I am trying to get a part time job, as I decided that preparing for the LSAT, while it's a big task can't possibly fill all of my time during the summer when I don't have any classes...
So I have an interview on Monday...it's at a chemical testing company, I applied to be a lab tech since I have prior lab experience even though it's not what I want to do ultimately...but I very much need the job, I already owe a lot of money to my parents and it would help a great deal to be able to afford to live on my own again...
So, if you can spare some vibes I would really appreciate it. I am really nervous and I was just out shopping for clothes for my interview...
I am going to work on my resume tonight, which I haven't even had to send yet, since they didn't ask for one with the application..Oh and I would appreciate suggestions too
I've never really had a real interview before since I've always worked at restaurants and such...

Oh - as to suggestions... shake hands firmly, it communicates confidence. Look the person in the eye, be (basically) honest, but if you can figure out a way that law ties into the lab work, having a reason you want THAT job (beyond owing your parents a lot of money) is always helpful. Ask questions that show you're interested - and not just in the job itself, but in the firm. Do a little homework first. Is it a publicly traded company? A university? A large company? A small company? What does the lab do - how does it fit with the rest of the firm - how many clients do they have? Is it research based? I don't know lab questions to ask - but I think you get the idea... And if you're nervous, don't be afraid to just say so, it may help you relax a bit. It's OK to not have "been on many interviews" before at your age. Look the interviewer in the eye - and just be yourself.

Wear something professional looking, and make sure there are no typos on your resume.

You'll do great!

Good luck to you.

LDG's advice is sound, as always! If you have time, take a look online; I'm sure there are tons of practice interview questions that can help you get into the right mindset. Also, be sure to think about how your previous experience (job-related or otherwise) applies to the position.

Good point!
Forgot that part of it - being excited about how you can contribute ("oh that's perfect, because I've.....!") is really good too!

Thanks everyone!!!
Laurie yes I did decide to take the LSAT!!! It's such a huge stress though, but I hope in the end it's worth it. I just can't wait until I've taken the LSAT, have graduated from college and just enjoy the time in between college and law school and work and not worry about school..It will be really relaxing.
I am working on my resume right now because I slacked off earlier
I am wearing a brown earthy colored collared shirt with a khaki pencil skirt .... brown looks good on me for some reason since I'm a brunette and my hair and eyes are brown I don't know if that makes sense fashion wise lol..but i like it. Thanks again for all the vibes!
I hope they don't grill me too much and I hope the questions don't sound soooo scripted.

I'm really glad you're going to take the LSATS!

Your outfit sounds perfect for the interview.

When I was interviewed for my position (I'm a Land Use Planner for my county), I was interviewed by four people. I just sat there, answering question after question as best I could. And I also looked at one person for a few minutes, then the next person, then the next, and so on. Always right in the eye. Very firm handshake. If I wasn't sure about something, I came right out and said so....they can smell BS a mile away. Honest.

Is this a company that you could research a bit on the internet, just to get a brief idea of what the company does, the amount of people who work there, what they do, etc? Showing that you know a little about the company and its employees might help.

(BTW, during my second interview, when the Director asked me if I had any questions or concerns, I told him that I would always need Sept 20th off work. Always. He asked me why. I told him that it was my cat's birthday and I always spent that day with her. He just looked at me. And then he started laughing like crazy. I laughed, too, but really, I was quite serious. He hired me anyway....and made sure that I always spent Banshee's birthday with her. But I wouldn't advise saying that.

The interview went really well and I am still in shock, but I was hired!!!
I just can't believe it I even filled out all the paperwork!! I have training tomorrow!! I guess I'm lucky to be hired so quickly although the pay is average it's fine with me.
The guy who interviewed me was the owner of the company, it's a pretty small company...I feel like I could have been more confident but last night I was just talking to my dad about it, and he said I shouldn't go off topic unless they ask me ...Well I could have said a lot more but since they didn't ask I didnt' say and feel like I should have...
In any case, that doesn't matter any more what matters is that I do a good job now and work hard! I really really hope I do well, it's a little scary..

Yes, starting a new job is scary, but you'll feel settled in no time.

I'm so happy for you!

It's scary because you do want to do well - but you'll do great and be an asset to the company. Good luck with everything!
