Thank you all once again. We went to visit Buster Sunday and he is looking and eating good. He was much more alert during this visit...even growling at the vet tech when she went to take him back to his cage. We will be bringing him home as soon as the Penrose drain is removed from his ear. DH is concerned about balance issues, but I think once that collar can be taken off for good, Buster manage quite well.

Buster is home! He is recovering nicely and resting well. The collar gets on his nerves, but he is handling it much better than I would. It's amazing how well animals adapt. He'll have his stitches out and the collar off in no time. We are going to take it off an hour or so a day under close observation. DH, Buster and I really appeciate your support through this ordeal.

There is nothing like having our kitties home with us. No better medicine in the world than that!

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
I don't often visit the health forum, so I'm just now seeing this post - but I'm so glad all seems to be going so well - and, importantly, that Buster is home! That's SUCH a relief, we know that one well!

Did any of his ear have to be removed? I do remember another case of a kitty with cancer that had to have part of his ear removed - and he stopped eating. Turns out there are a lot of nerves there somehow connected with their sensitive whiskers. Turns out just feeding kitty on a plate instead of from a bowl did the trick. Just a thought in case that may be part of the problem.

for his complete recovery!

Hi! He is eating very well. We put his food on a paper plate and hold it up in front of him to make it easier. DH is a notorious over-feeder and he is really doting on Buster. But I guess that's good, since Buster has had obvious weight loss following the surgery.

Poor guy, he's been through alot.

How is he doing now, what about his balance?

His balance is pretty good. He is walking and having no trouble with litter box. That Elizabethan collar really gets on his nerves and he gets a little frustrated, but I think he will do fine once it's gone next week.

I'd like to thank everyone again for all the vibes and concerns. The TCS community is just wonderful!

Hi I was wondering how things are going. Allie had complete ear canal ablation about 13 days ago and she still does not act like she feels that great. I don't know how long they should have pain from the surgery, did your doc tell you? Her eye is still droopy as well. Are yall having to give him pain meds?

Thanks
