After the controversy - are you still using Swiffer WetJet?

Just wondering what everyone's take on this is now. I have seen many articles which state that there was "nothing" to the stories about the wet jet solution being harmful to pets. But once something like that is put in my mind I can't help being worried. I've started using vinegar and water instead. I worry because my two cats love those little foam balls and carry them around in their mouth all the time after they've been rolled all around the floor.

Exactly! Once it was put in my head that's all I could think about! Just to stay safe I've stopped using it. I use a citrus solution now that is natural and leaves my floors shiny. You know we can't risk harming our furballs

I love the convenience of it - so I just cut a small hole in the top of one of the containers that the Swiffer solution comes in an pour water and vinegar in it. (I've never been able to get the cap off of the bottom.) Works just the same - except I think it gets my floors cleaner. Heck of a lot cheaper, too!

I use a steam cleaner on my tile in the kitties room. No need to worry then and it kills the germs.

Drys almost immediately.

Steam or vinegar/water here, I don't like to use chemicals no matter how "safe" they claim to be.

As I didn't like the film left on the floor I stopped using it and started to use hot water and vinegar with a regular sponge mop. I just recently purchased a Shark steam mop and like it better as it disinfects and drys immediately.

Wow, I had no idea about this - I don't use a WetJet upstairs in the kitties' rooms, but it's used downstairs. And as several have already stated...once I hear there was even a suspicion, I generally stop using things.

Doesn't a vinegar solution leave the room sort of smelly? I've been wanting a more "natural" cleaning solution, but the smell of vinegar makes me gag.
