I have a confession to make...I am addicted to Tripadvisor. I always check out the reviews on a hotel where I'll potentially be staying, but my relationship with Tripadvisor goes way beyond that. I like to read about the most disgusting horrific hotels possible. I love their 10 worst list. I like to read the bad reviews...the ones with bed bugs and rude employees, unidentified filth in the tub and chalk outlines on the floor...much more than the good ones.

Do you like Tripadvisor? Or do you have another guilty Internet secret that you'd like to share?

Last night, I was looking at a website featuring pics of celebrities before and after cosmetic surgery. I must have been really bored. Who would have guessed that Brad Pitt had had his ears pinned back?

I almost forgot about TCS!
And I also "window shop" a lot on PetFinder, knowing good and well we can't get another cat right now.

I love Tripadvisor, too, and I am an "destination expert" (ha, ha!) for Detroit.

This forum and Whatbird.com also way too much time spend noodling around.

Haha, every time I get on Whatbird I spend way too much time, too!

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
I'm on Tripadvisor right now checking out a hotel for an exhibition for work next week.

I always do trip advisor before i book a hotel, but some people are nit pickers because i've stayed in some fabulous hotels but theres always a few who give it a bad review.

We stayed in a 4 * hotel in London in October last year, and it was really lovely, but one person wrote an essay pointing out faults. When they do that i think they must have spent the whole of their stay looking for faults.

I agree. There are some nit pickers on there that can't be pleased.
I try to take this into account when I'm researching a hotel for my vacation (though any mention of critters is very upsetting to me). Years ago, Oprah did a show on bad vacations. I remember a woman talking about staying in a hotel where scorpions were falling from the rafters. I wish I knew the name of the hotel...I would love to read the reviews.

I just looked up Whatbird, because I wasn't familiar with the site. I could have used it the other day when I was trying to identify the bird from my yard who is out to get me. It turns out he is a Carolina Chickadee.

This thread is too funny! I don't even know Tripadvisor - but I do check out the headlines and pictures of the rag mags as I wait in line at the supermarket! I do often wonder about how many actors/actresses have had surgery....

Since I enjoy visiting your state, I did a review on Bally's. I ended up staying in one of the rooms in the Old Dennis Hotel. Oh, my! It was a little different than my stay at the Taj
. But we still had a blast.

When I decided to have a destination wedding, I became addicted to Tripadvisor. We were going to travel to Belize and my eyes were hurting from reading so much!
We ended up getting married in St Lucia and I'm so thankful for all the reviews on Tripadvisor. It really helped me make my wedding day perfect since the resort was a dream location for us.

Totally agree. I still check up on the reviews from where I stayed in St Lucia and I can't believe some of the picky comments. I thought it was perfect and some people just complain about everything! It goes to show that you should take any review with a grain of salt since everyone's view will be different.
