I have 3 cats and during the night one or more of them vomit. I don't know which one it is and don't know how to figure it out. I have thought about switching their food but one of my cats has urinary problems and we have to feed him purina one urinary tract health food. The cat that has that problem is a male. I also wonder if feeding all my cats this food could be causing the vomit in one of the cats because she is a diabetic. Is there any way to be able to single out one cat for the issue. Could I color the food? I have also thought about switching just one cats food, but I am afraid that my male cat will start eating the other cats food. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to figure out what cat it is?
Thanks

If you have a day off from work/school coming up, I suggest you just stay up and try to watch them. The only other thing I can think of is to shut each cat into a different room overnight.

Is it vomit or regurgitation? And when is their last meal or are they free fed?

You could out one in a separate room every night to see whose puking. if you put one in the bathroom and in the morning see if that one puked, if not out up another apart from the others until you find out who the puker is. It might be easier to just put all of them in separate rooms to figure out who it is.

I wouldn't color the food, my cats eat out of each others bowls so I would just get multicolored puke that would stain badly wherever it landed. I'd be more worried about it staining the carpet and badly.

I'd separate them and figure out who the puker is, then you'll know if it's the diabetic cat or not.

Place the water bowl far enough away from the food so the cat has to actually think about drinking. Elevate the food bowls, don't over feed- and don't free feed. Take the food up after 25 minutes and then at the next feeding put out fresh food.

Vomiting is not a common symptom for a diabetic cat- they do drink a lot of water though and pee a bunch. Is it just food in their emesis or is there hair as well?

You can give them a small pinch of organic catnip before eating, this will help the food digest better. You can also give 1/4 tab of pepcid to each cat 30 minutes before feeding. When were they wormed last?

The vomit is just food colored liquid. No solids in the vomit at all. And it is way after they are fed that they vomit. I feed my cat's twice a day. 1/4 cup of cat food twice a day. It is always during the night when they are put in the basement. My cat's have behavior problems and if left out unsupervised they cleat everything and decide not to use their litter boxes. That is the main reason I have not seen which one is doing it. It does sound like a good idea to block one off in a room, I could only do the bathroom since it is the only room in my house that has a door.
