My cat keeps pawing at the plastic cover that holds the poop instead of at the litter and so doesn't end up covering up her stuff. I don't know why she doesn't seem to understand the difference between digging in the litter or at the plastic part. Has anyone had this problem?

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

I don't have an automatic litter box, but I do have three cats that scratch on everything but the litter - they'll scratch on the side of box, the wall, the floor, and the mat.
For some cats it's litter or litter box size related, for others it's just what they do.

Because the stuff in the plastic box smells and she's "covering" it instead of the stuff she just produced. Besides that, she knows that the little rake will soon come and scoop her stuff into the box.
I used to have an automatic box, but got rid of it and went back to scooping.

My cats do this, they never cover up anything and it can REALLY stink. I just have to be on hand immediately to scoop it within minutes after they go. There is really no way to train them to cover it.
...Just be grateful they ARE using the litterbox! Trust me it could be way worse XD
