Cat with Severe allergies

My friend has a cat with severe allergies and wants to know what she can do for her. The cat is allergic to pollen, I think some foods and probably other. Aparently my friend is using Zyrtec (on advice from vet) as well as biweekly allergy shots. She also has a cone so that the cat does not scratch her rash. What more can be done to help the cat?

Has she changed her diet to feed something without all the things the cat's allergic to? That would be the first place to start.

Do the things that are done for people with respiratory allergies. Keep the home clean, be careful what's used in the home, and add air purifiers.

For foods she'll just have to keep carefully reading labels and avoiding foods. Some of the higher end foods have egg product so they'd be out.
If her vet isn't helping enough, maybe she should consider hunting for a specialist. This may need more serious treatment to keep it under control and that needs to be fully discussed with a vet that very familiar with treating cat allergies.

I have a few allergic cats.
My Wrinkles had hives and rashes all over her until I switched her to Duck.
Within 5 days all the hives and rashes were gone.
My Coco has a inhaler for her asthma and she used to get shots but they made her get bladder problems so we had to stop.

My Genever seems to be allergic too this year. About a month ago she was sneezing a whole lot and scratching so we took her to the vet- allergies. She got a steroid shot which cleared up the scratching but not the sneezing. Then I gave her 2mg of Chlor-Trimeton (brand name of the people allergy medicine, I forget the drug name, but it's available OTC) twice a day. After 4 days she seemed better so I stopped it. She is itching a lot again lately though, so I gave her an allergy pill this morning, might do that for a few days again.

It's so sad when a cat has sneezing fits!!

Oh, also, I feed Natural Balance brand Duck & Green Pea, both wet and dry. If your friend's cat can't tolerate something like that even, then I think there are vet-prescribed allergy foods.. Best of luck to get it under control!
