Here is an article with some photos of the tornado damage. The kitten in the first photo grabbed my attention.

Tornado damage

This Love's truck stop is at Choctaw Road, east of OKC on I-40. That is where we exit to go to my sister's house, which is about 5 miles north of there. They didn't have any damage, but their power was off for about 6 hours.

Oh what a poor thing, and such horrible damage to peoples lives.

I could never live in a place prone to these things. I would have to be in constant therapy.

I hope the sweet little guy finds his family. I hate seeing these things.

Poor little baby! That poor face is exactly why we sold our last house (without a basement) and bought the one we currently live in (solid basement). A tornado hit our last house and that picture could have been any of mine.

There's another tornado storm path coming through further north this time. Yup, headed to my area this time and expected later today. We'll do another tornado drill this afternoon to remind all of them - can you say herd 13 critters into the basement?

You could probably easily get them to all go to the basement with a simple command, like "down" and a really loud treat can/bag.

Oklahoma got hit hard the other day. My county got skipped, thankfully, but the counties above, below, and to the east all got damage. 56 counties in total with the governor seeking government assistance for the state.

DH stopped by Kmart on the way home yesterday to grab a couple of things and said the parking lot was full of vehicles from the National Weather Service.

I hope everyone stays safe. I know we have a few other Oklahoma members here, including one who joined not to long ago and is in Norman. But without power most probably won't be able to check in.

We had some high winds (60 to 70 mph) and hail in my area of Ohio on Saturday night. It was the loudest hail i ever heard in my life and all my cats were freaked out and so was i.. I still cant even believe the power never went out and we did not loose internet or cable.. Fortunately we only lost the branch of huge willow tree.. and it didnt do any damage and all cats survived...

Dunno if it'll help, but I've trained my two to come home (assuming they're within earshot) when I ring a bell...it's their sign that food's ready:-)

Maybe you could get them a separate/extra special treat that you could get them used to having only in the basement, and when they're eating it, ring a bell. Then they associate the sound with both the treat and the location.

Good luck with the tornadoes!!

Well, it's another bad night for storms here. There's a storm heading this way that has already produced tornadoes and baseball sized hail - I have less than an hour till it's on us.

ETA: There was a weak tornado south of town. I think all it did was touch down in a field and toss some debris around. They did set the town sirens off, though.
