My cat Carly is due any day now. I have suspected that she is getting very close to having her kittens so I've been checking on her frequently. Tonight I was in with her and she suddenly gets up and runs over to her litter box. I can hear what's going on so I stick around to do clean up since I've gone through this with her over the past week or so. Sure enough she's had diarrhea all over herself and her box. So I get that cleaned up and she has to go again. I get that cleaned up (had to cut quite a bit of hair off of her tail and rear to get her clean) and then she runs over and urinates. I scoop that out and she runs into the bathtub and vomits all over. I kid you not, this all happened within 10 minutes of each other. I was just in shock. I mean as soon as I'd clean up one thing she'd do something else. I'm guessing kittens within the next 24 hours, what do you think?

It sounds a lot like what human mommies do when they're in labor. Well, except for getting their tails trimmed.

Come on, babies!

Yeah poor kid, she has a stubby tail now. I've been cleaning her rear end for so long it will be nice for her to be able to do it herself.

She's gone back to eating normally and I took her temp last night (before all the mess) which was normal. I'll take it again this morning. She's a mystery.

No more vomiting? THIS did worried me.

As you say, some diarrhea the day before delivery is quite common, but heavy diarrhea and vomiting is a big watch out...

If it proceeds, it is asap to the vet.

If it is normal now, as it sounds by your last letter, good.

You can make some homemade pedialyte for her to drink just for good measure.

the receipt is: 1 litre water, 1 tea spoon kitchen salt, 1 soup spoon dextrose sugar (=grape sugar). If you dont have dextrose, honey is OK.
Cook up, stir, let be cooler.
Works wonderful for cats and humans alike.

I put a call into the vet just to be sure because I'm concerned. This diarrhea has come off and on for the past week or so. Each time I thought okay this is it, she's going to have kittens, and then nothing. It could be a worm but we had her wormed about 4 weeks ago and she's strictly indoors. I don't know what else it could be but she's eating and drinking normally and the kittens are moving around a lot.

Aww, sounds like you both had a rough night
.
The vomiting could just be her eating too much and not having enough space in her stomach, but just watch and if it continues, then you may want to start worrying
.
I really hope it means they're coming soon!
How long have you felt them moving so far?

Now that I'm thinking about it, what came up was a lot of food. I really don't know how she could have kept that much food inside of her with the lack of space she has now. I think she eats too much. I might have to start putting out food and taking it up instead of free feeding.

I will have to double check our thread but I think it's been over two weeks now. I know we've seen them moving over a week.

Human moms can have diarrhea and barf everywhere. I was lucky I was induced so I couldn't eat from noon the day before the induction(they wanted me in the night before since they were going to start the pitocin at 6 AM) so I had nothing to throw up but my stomach was fine except for the one incident of me pooping my brains out, in the bathroom, nurse was screaming I didn't have to poop and it might be the baby. No, I had to poop badly with diarrhea and I didn't particularly feel like doing it while delivering my son(not to mention it was diarrhea so it's not like I could hold it forever.)

It can(and can being the operative word) be normal but keep an eye on it and call the vet if you are in doubt at all.

Sounds like she is getting really close to finally evicting those babies.
