Someone mentioned Nancy Drew in the "Favorite Books" thread.

There is another series that is smaller, I think, but much more realistic and, to me, much more fun.

It's the "Trixie Belden" series. Anybody read them?

Ahhh yes that takes me back!

When I was younger my grandparents used to buy me secondhand books and some of them were Trixie Belden books - I liked them a lot better than the Nancy Drew. I haven't thought of those in years!

not only did my sister & i read them growing up, we played 'Trixie Belden' w/our Barbies!

Loved, loved, loved them! Still have two. My daughter read most of the series a few years back and loved them as well. They were just so...cozy.

Yes, they are really fine books. And written over a fairly long period of time. The last 5 or 6 were written by authors other than the original. In fact, I started a modern one, but never finished it, myself.

You can buy the whole series on e-bay on any given day. Here, for example, is the first 10.
