My Bull Terrier Granite, gets along fine with most of my cats, except for the one young Tom. He just spends all his time winding the dog up, and trying to bait him into a fight. Staring, Yowling, hissing, getting up really close to him. The Dog is almost a nervous wreck. The cat thinks he is being clever, but granite isn't the dog to do it with. If Granite loses his cool, and attacks, the cat will die. There wont be any question of that. The Cat, is a recent addition, gets on well with the other cats, and the other cats all get on fine with the dog. I can se that one day, Gran is going to kill this stupid cat. And then he'll feel terribly guilty, because he's a nice boy really, and very even tempered and intelligent. I'm almost looking forward to the day it happens. And I feel terrible for these feelings. Because even though I am fond of the cat, my EBT is my favourite.

Usually when introducing dogs to cats it is the cats safety that is a concern. In those cases where the cats is the aggressor it is treated like a cat to cat intro.

It's really up to you to intervene and help alleviate this clearly stressful situation. You're the only one in this scenario who is capable of reasoning, and figuring out a solution, or search for a solution. "Looking forward to the day it happens" is more than unkind, it is, IMO, cruel and reckless. Clearly they are not capable of working this out on their own. It is your responsibility to find a solution, not theirs. You do realize that this is an animal welfare board, so when you post things like looking forward to your dog maiming or killing your "stupid cat", you are not going to get responses you like?

Also, if the dog does kill the cat, he won't feel guilty...he's really not capable of that kind of reasoning, but if it does happen, you should.

I feel your pain. My son's recently departed cat, Six, was huge and he always bullied my German shepherd dog (who could probably have killed him except she was scared to death of him). I think Heidi attempted to chase him the first time they met and he never forgave her. My lab got along fine with Six, but she was entirely non-confrontational. He had Heidi absolutely cowed. She wouldn't even come through the front door if she could see him. Six would often hide behind the door and jump out at her.

I am not normally an advocate for rehoming, but since you only recently got this cat, perhaps it should be considered a foster situation and you find him a new home, since you are hoping your dog will kill him.

PLEASE find a better home for this cat. And if he is an intact male, get him neutered first.

I agree. The cat should be rehomed ---The text should say he's not fond of dogs. Is the EBT the only dog in the home?
