It can be, and isn't too uncommon. But the general idea is that most cats being switched to that haven't had green pea before. NB does make sweet potato formulas.

ETA: Just wondering, are you feeding this and having issues with it?

Just a note: Their sweet potatoes formulas are for dogs - all the Limited Ingredients Formula for cats from Natural balance are with Green Pea...

A lot of time exposure can effect allergies. Here in America we consider rice as almost a hypoallergenic food, very very few people here are allergic to it but it's the most common food allergy in Japan. Since most cats have never had experience with green pea they are a lot less likely to have a reaction to it, but they definitely can.

Did they stop making the sweet potato and salmon formula? It was definitely for cats and not dogs.

Clover is allergic to green peas but it doesn't matter now that I am not feeding any commercial food.

For cats they do a Salmon & Green Pea formula... I use that sometimes when Genever absolutely totally snubs the Duck & Green Pea, just to mix it up a bit. Since I've been feeding NB about 8 months ago, I've never seen sweet potatoes in the cat limited ingredient formulas. All peas.

California Natural has a Sweet Potato and Herring formula. We use their chicken & rice formula due to food intolerance by a couple of my cats.

I swore I seen it on petfood direct and at petco, but this was a couple of years ago.
