A black friend of mine sent me an e-mail re the following article. I did not want to copy the e-mail in it's entirety so I'm just giving you the info in case you are interested in reading it. I certainly appreciated reading it.

Andrew M. Manis is associate professor of history at Macon State College in Georgia and wrote this for an editorial in the Macon Telegraph.

Andrew M. Manis: When Are WE Going to Get Over It?

There's no link working.

However, threats toward high-ranking government officials have a long history in the U.S. I'm sure you don't want me to find some of the ones directed toward President Bush. Just as an example, so far as I know, no one has yet written a book or made a movie about the assassination of President Obama, showing the celebration of it around the world.

I actually found the article with the information given in the original post.

Having lived in a county in Arkansas that, at one time, bragged that the sun had never set there on a black person, I agree that too many people are still totally clueless.

My thoughts exactly.

Pictures & Death Threats from Liberals toward Bush: Aggh, How the Left Forgets
The left in America has tunnel vision, they see and hear what they want to see and hear. How many of them remained silent when death threats were directed at Bush? How many were outraged when images of Bush were being hung with blood pouring from his head at so called “Peace Rallies”.

No, they were silent when the same things where happening to Bush. They were giddy and happy when it was Bush! They laughed and sang songs and joked and promoted there hate with graffiti on subways an corner streets. They mocked his religion his family and his intelligence. The ones calling for civility today were silent when the target was a Republican.
And NO, there are no Tea Party Rally's with signs calling for Barack's death.

Second, I’m going to report to the FBI any white person I overhear saying, in seriousness or in jest, anything of a threatening nature about President Obama.
You suppose he's going to report anyone other than a white person too? But since I'm sure this good fellow did the same for threats against any other president, it's all good. After he reports all those ones in jest, I'm sure the FBI will put his information right at the top of the list.

Does it never occur to anyone that many people who dislike Obama do not like his politics?

I dislike him because of his politics. I don't care what color he is. I dislike Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid just as much.

Honestly, when will people get over the race thing????

Of course not Cinder. Don't you know, if you don't agree with Barack's bankrupting of America you are a dirty, rotten, white racist?

The Left will NEVER get past race, they use it like a sledge hammer to keep the non-whites voting for them, all the while throwing a few bucks their way and keeping them down and poor.

What that dude forgot to mention:
in addition to the mental case, trying to impress Jody Foster,
that tried to assassinate Reagan
we have; Lee Harvey Oswald, the commie that went to Russia to become a Russian spy, but the Russians didn't want him. I don't think Oswald was motivated by race.
James Earl Ray, yes, the dude seems to have been a racist
Sirhan Sirhan was an Arab terrorist that did not like Bobby Kennedy's pro-Israel connection.

So, one out of four can accurately be called a racist.

Excellent illustrations of hate-filled hyperbole. It really sounds as if they'd like to kill some "leftists" and the "liberal media", too. McCarthyism revisited?

No, people haven't learned much since the 50s and 60s. Those who supported invading Iraq made that crystal clear, as do sites like those cited above.

That is your opinion of course, I just read the the articles I linked to only which came from a simple google search. I certainly didn't see any "kill some leftists" and "kill liberal media" in either of the two articles, so have no idea what you are talking about.

IMO, this country has come a long ways since the 50's and 60's. I'm sure there is still racism and anti-semitism in Germany, just hidden because you don't have the freedom we do.

So, what I seem to be getting from these responses is that there is no racism in the US and this guy is full of beans! That's good to know.

Unfortunately, I do know that racism exists here in Canada and that many people try to hide it by spouting platitudes. They aren't really fooling anyone but themselves.

I personally believe (my opinion only of course) that there are many who do not like Obama because he is black and it has nothing whatsoever to do with his politics. I also believe many of those people will be adamant that it's his politics they don't like - honestly!

It's good to know that some people aren't fooled by anyone.

I have friends who voted for Obama. They now dislike what he's doing. I guess all that blackness just caught up to them. I also know a person who can't stand him cause he's black and has no problem saying so.

Then there's those like myself who didn't like him in the first place. I also don't like (I'm using really kind language here) Pelosi or Reid and a host of others. It's interesting to learn that my issues with all these people are for different reasons, Pelosi and Reid for their politics and Obama cause he's black. Who knew?

I did notice you referred to your friend as black. In a perfect world you wouldn't have to make that distinction. I mean, afterall...a friend is a friend.

But I understand where you're coming from. If you don't like Obama you're a racist. If you want free health care you're lazy and want everything handed to you. If you are against abortion you're some kind of religious nut. If you think schools should be taught in english you're against immigration. Now people can say they have other reasons for having these beliefs, but fortunately we all know better.

On the other hand, we all know that black people are never racist towards whites. So, we can always take what they say at face value.
