Kept her nice and snuggly throughout the night + fed her. She has been eating about 1/2 ounce or a little more everytime and is sucking from the bottle full time now. This morning I fed just a smidge over 1/2 ounce in the bottle and she drank every bit + burped twice. She also peed when stimulated and just the smallest amount of poop. Hopefully this is a sign that she'll start pooping when stimulated now. I feel a bit better.

She also peed two times without stimulation, once after eating, and once before eating. Just a small amount though. Is this okay?

I'm trying to think of a name for this little baby who I am 99% positive is a girl. Also is it okay to take a picture of her at this age or will the flash bother her?

Her eyes are almost all the way open now. She's trying hard. Please keep sending support and good vibes our way.

O good news! Sounds like things are going well. I have taken pics at this age. Maybe take it from the side a bit, just not right in the eyes. But I have seen pics here on the site of newborns full face. Still, I err on the side of caution.

I am sure Finsterhead will be on soon to chime in. Once the eyes open and they eat well, they start to grow fast. I saw her babies yesterday, and at 5 weeks, they are all over the place! Trying to untie my shoes, rolling around with eachother, trying to run and they look like they are going to fall over.
You will have such fun with this little one very soon!

To cslenker .6 lbs equals 9.6 ozs.

A&A's....you are doing a great job. I did start letting my babies sleep more at night around this age if they seemed to want to. Now, they go about 7 hours at night. I wouldn't do 7 hours, but maybe 5 as long as shes sleeping.
At two weeks I asked the vet about the sex of the babies and they said that it's really hard to tell at this age because the anatomy still looks similar...however I know mine are all girls because they are tortishells. What color is your little one. Hope you put some pics on soon I would love to see.
It sounds like you are doing everything right. The rice packs, the blanket overtop to keep drafts out, and a warm house (I have that too). Seems that she is eating just fine. She will start eating more and more as every day passes. Mine did that with the pooping too. Just a little bit and then later they would go for real. The peeing themselves without stimulation is fine. Mine did that all the time. I put a litter box in just before they were four weeks old. MAKE SURE YOU USE NONCLUMPING LITER. Because the clumping liter will clump in their bellies should they decide to eat it and that can be fatal. Seems that everything is moving along nicely and maybe you can start getting a little more sleep at night.

Oh it is sad to see mama. She was a very pretty girl. And bless the heart of the lost little one.

The baby is just precious...white! How nice. That little nest looks very warm...I wouldn't mind something like that for myself!!

There are actually like three or four grey hairs on the top of her head [the other little one had it too]. We don't know who the dad is [little mommy was only half tame and went away for almost a week and when she came back she was preggers], so we don't know why it's all white.

I hope the nest looks nice and warm. I am trying my best. I miss the little mommy a lot. She was a good little mommy so I hope I can do a good job for her.

Mama was beautiful, and so were both her babies. Good luck with your little guy. It sounds like you're doing a great job with him
I've bottle fed 2 kittens from 2 weeks old too, and it's an incredible experience. Thanks for helping this little guy!

She pooped! In the box and I cleaned it/her up and then she pooped a little more and peed when I rubbed her belly/butt.

This time she didn't eat hardly anything. She has been doing really well at latching on to the nipple and sucking and drinking a good bit each time and it was four hours since her last feeding and she wouldn't hardly take any. Just little bits but she kept like gumming my fingers and shirt.

How soon do they start cutting teeth and how soon til I should start trying to give her her milk replacer in a jar lid or something?

Finsterheads kittens are about 5 weeks old and only 1 is doing very good lapping from a bowl. The others have tried, but don't show much talent or interest!
So I would say a few more weeks for your little one.

I took in a momma and baby almost 2 years ago. Mom died and I was left with my cat Beeba. Of course, he was 9 months old, but he sure missed his mom for quite a while. So, in her memory, I have raised him to be a really nice cat. He is a bit skittish at times, but he is a lap cat and a bed cat.
I guess the best way to honor her memory is to take as good care as you can of this little one. But it goes without saying, you certainly are.

Yeah! for the BM!!!

These last two times she didnt eat hardly anything. She kept trying to like chomp on the nipple or our hand or whatever. She got some milk but not a lot and she was doing so good at sucking it. What gives?

Well, maybe like human babies, she has a bubble or something in her belly. Give it a while and try again. Is she acting normal otherwise? Active?

You know there have been times when my babies just didn't eat as well as other times. I wouldn't worry too much. I know I keep telling you that, but mine did the same thing. As far as chewing on the nipple, ahhhhhh....mine did and still do the same thing. In fact I just had to go buy another bottle, because you can't just buy the nipples. Mine actually have chewed the tips right off. It's teething....there teeth are starting to come in and they just want to chew. So I would just make sure that she is getting some KMR one way or another...and just squeeze it into her mouth when she is biting. It takes longer to feed that way, but the end result is the same...she has a full belly and is happy. SOOOOOO happy for you that she pooped finally. Don't stress out if its another three days before she goes again. I have read things that said they have to poop every day, so maybe I am wrong...but from my experience they just don't go everyday at only two weeks of age. Just got my babies 2nd stage KMR, so I am hoping that they will finally all start drinking from a bowl soon. Good luck...keep in touch..i'm home for the rest of the night if you need any more help

She just ate a bit, she sucked a bit but then stopped and kept doing the chewing thing. She only drank about half of what she normally does because she didn't want to take it and I didn't didn't want to force it so she would choke or something.

She is still acting the same aside from that and she is back asleep in her box with her warm rice bags. I really hope that she'll start sucking the bottle again soon.

The second time she pooped a lot when she had a bm. She pees everytime though which is good.

Well, I still wouldn't worry, and just wait and see. If tomorrow she continues with not eating much, then I would start to wonder and maybe make a vet trip. She's peeping and pooping now and acting normal besides not eating as much. Like my mom, Farleyv said, maybe just an airbubble in her belly or something simple like that. It makes me feel encouraged that she is taking soemthing rather than nothing. You're doing a great job.

I'm hoping she'll continue to suck a bit and hopefully get back to normal. Our vet isn't in on Sundays, so the soonest I'll be able to take her is Monday, and even then I have to take her to the neighboring town because our vet goes back and forth. Which I am more than willing to do and plan on doing this week anyway just for good measure. But I would personally feel a lot better if she'd go back to drinking normally.

She drank a bit more at this feeding. Actually the feeding was a littler earlier than supposed to be because she woke up and was making noise and trying to suck on my finger so I gave her her bottle then and she drank almost all of it. :]

Oh good. I am glad she drank more....probably a bit hungry from not eating as much the previous times today. When you go to the vet you will get a weight and that will give you a better idea of how much she should be drinking. I believe on the KMR can there is a chart or somewhat of a formula to figure out how much they should be drinking based on weight. I never really paid attention to that because mine for the most part drank well and I would normally just give them what they would take...which becomes more and more as each day passes. Like I said mine weighed .6 lbs at that age, which the vet said was within normal limits...I will be anxious to see how you make out. Good luck tonight and I hope she continues to do well for you.

Well her past two feedings she ate almost what she normally eats and she peed. And she wouldn't poop but I didnt worry about it, and dad was holding her while I was reheating the rice bags for her nest and she pooped all over him :x It was a mess - I had to clean them both up but at least she went again! :]
