I noticed that Jazz has dandruff at the lower part of her back down to her tail, it doesn't seem to be bothering her, but how do I get rid of it? Thanks

Sometimes I have to ask what appear to be obvious ?s...

It could be a weather change but most likely do to food... Wt control foods are notorious for low fatty acid levels ... Fatty acids are what make soft, shiney , dandruff free( ouside all black cats) coats... Is the food one of the RX line?

Does she eat wet or dry?

I add a bit of fish oil to my older girl's wet food and this has helped her coat issue.

do you mean the fish oil that I take in tablet form. Could I just cut open one of them and squeeze it onto her food?

We use the human kind that's a capsule and it's a gel form. There are specific kinds for kitties, though.

Sophie has this problem from time to time, and she knows what the fish oil is so won't touch her food if i put a few drops of it in
But i keep trying!!

What i find though is that if i give her a good brush her fur softens up and the dandruff goes

My Liam has the same problem....he 3yrs old and eats only dry food. We've tried to get him to eat tuna for the oils but he doesn't seem to like anything other than dry. I think we're feeding him purina one. Any suggestions?

I found that going to a grain-free food did wonders for the kitties' shiny fur. It also reduced the shedding to almost nothing.
