Hi there guys. This is my first post and hopefully not my last.

I'm coming to you all, in hopes that you can cure my insomnia and my sanity.

I have a cat named Tasha, witch is a mix of things. She's normally a vary lovey chitty but every few weeks (2-6 weeks) she will go into heat. While every cat I have owned and loved in the past has been really good when in heat, this is like Armageddon in comparison.

She will do the normal thing where she rubs on everything and is more wanting affection than normal, but she yells.

It's hard to describe and I might have to make a shot YouTube video or something to show what I'm talking about, but she will yell like from her throat and it's 'loud'. Will wake me from a dead sleep type of thing, and will do it non stop for around 1-7ish mins at a time no matter what you do next to scruffing her.

Of course the simple solution would be for me to get her fixed but my mate dose not want that to happen just yet. She would like kitten-kitten's, sort to speak.

I did some casual research over the last year, but I'm still left with no clear answers or solutions.

Please, help me. I'm begging of you.

Please know that this site is pro-spaying your kitty unless you're a professional breeder. So, just know that everyone's going to tell you that the best thing you can do is to get her spayed. One of the #1 reasons to have her spayed, other than controlling the pet population, is to prevent pyometra which can be a fatal infection.

Also know that she will do ANYTHING to get outside to get some action, since that's what she's crying for. Other than having her spayed, there really is no way to control her behavior.

Get the cat spayed!

There is nothing that's going to stop this behavior. The only solution is to get her fixed. As far as wanting her to have kittens.... There is no need for more kittens in this world. There is a million things I could say, but you'll probably get several replies that say the same.

For your sanity, as well as your cats health, get her spayed ASAP.

I have to say I'd agree to get her spayed- it's better for her health, and for every kitten born, one cat in a shelter dies
If you still want kittens, call up your local animal shelter or humane society- they have so many prgnant cats in that need fostering, especially at this time of year, so you can still experience it all without contributing, and you'll be helping these kittens get the best start to life that they can

Always a wonderful suggestion! And if this one is young enough, she may still accept other cats easily.

Get her spay, save your sanity and save her life.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Help educate your mate about the cat overpopulation problem, and let her know what a DRASTIC need there is for foster homes for kittens and/or pregnant females. Visit some local shelters this weekend!

Some sites that will help you:

Stray Pet Advocacy
Alley Cat Allies
Best Friends' No More Homeless Pets Campaign

You can search for organizations you might like to work with by going to Petfinder: http://www.petfinder.com Search on just "cat" and type in your zip code. The PAGES and PAGES of cats available for adoption alone may help convince her. But each cat has an organization listed next to it.... each one has a page or website of information about it.

.... and you can always have her spayed while she is in heat.... she will continue to go into heat until you have her spayed.

My advice is the same as everyone else's. My girl Delilah had one heat cycle at 5 months old and that was enough for me - we got her fixed.

But, I want to emphasize that people aren't just telling you to get her spayed because they believe it's the right thing to do, but also because it's really the ONLY solution to your problem.

Your cat will continue to go into heat until 1) she gets pregnant (but she will go into heat again not long after she has kitttens - which, as mentioned before, the world doesn't really need anymore of) or 2) she is spayed. I've never seen or read about any other solution to a female cat in heat.

Get her spayed. That will be the only thing that will stop it.

The world already has too many cats. Every rescue here is over full with cats. I couldn't find a spot for one of my sick ferals in Dec. Luckily one referred me to a low cost clinic who fixed Mama's rectal prolapse just fine. Seriously I couldn't find any rescues with space in Dec, there are way too many cats in the world, there are cats that have been in rescues for years due to a lack of homes. That's not to mention how many are put to sleep due to a lack of homes in kill shelters.

Your friend needs to be educated regarding having kittens.

You need to be firm, and have the cat spayed. The days of having kittens just to have kittens are long gone. Unless you are a breeder, it is a huge problem.

As the posters say, foster a pregnant momma. Do not bring more kittens into the world.

Very irresponsible.

Perfectly normal for a cat to "yell" while in heat, of course I agree with everyone else on getting her spayed.

Each heat cycle she goes through puts her at risk of developing Pyometra, which can be deadly.

She's acting like this because her hormones are driving her crazy.

Why are you continuing to let her go into heat when it's obviously making her miserable and risking her life?

Get her spayed! Now! Your friend is no friend to your poor cat if she's selfishly insisting on putting her through this. Why should your cat have to suffer and go through many heats and eventually a pregnancy (when it's convenient for you guys) — because your friend thinks it might be fun? If your friend wants kittens, there are thousands out there. Go to a kill-shelter and you'll see. But please don't bring any home unless you're going to spay and neuter them.

As everyone has already said, get her fixed. There are so many poor kitties out there that need homes. So many get put down because there are just to many. Please spay your kitty.

My cat went into heat a week before she was suppose to be fixed and It drove me nuts. the "screaming" and trying to sneak outside was enough for me to pull my hair out.
