Need help with a kitten peeing on the bed

I need help with a 9 week old kitten peeing on the bed. I am fostering him from the RSPCA and they have said if I can't stop him from doing this they will have to put him down. Which would be a shame as he is a very friendly cat. Please help

I've been living with cats all my life and this has never happened LOL. I got a cat from the RSPCA, and apparently they don't get put down? Oh, I suppose if there is a problem... Well anyway, is his litterbox clean? Some cats will not use a litterbox that is even remotely dirty, so they use something else that reminds them of a sandbox. And once they pee on something like a mattress you can never get rid of the smell, so he will keep on peeing on it. This has never happened to me but, this is my opinion.

sadly at my local rspca they do put down alot of kittens as they cant find homes for them or they have behavioural problems (peeing or being aggressive)
i am lucky that i had a mattress protector on my bed the strange thing is he doesnt do it through the day only does it of a night. the litter box gets cleaned out morning afternoon and night as i thought that maybe he was one of those cats that wont go unless it is clean and it has made no difference i have never had a problem like this before and not sure how to stop it

Have you got a feather doona on the bed? Many kittens love to pee on doonas.

How have you cleaned the bed? You need an enzyme cleaner or kitty will still smell it and keep going there.

Also where is the litter tray in relation to the bed, if it's too far away he may not make it in time.

He may need to stay in a laundry or smaller area than the bedroom overnight to help learn proper litter tray habits.

Sometimes little kittens either are sleeping or playing, and can't get to the litterbox fast enough. How far is the box from the bed?

I agree with Missymotus - to confine kitty into the area that contains the litter box at night- hopefully this is a smallish area. This does seems extreme but the consequences are extreme.

It is NOT normal for a kitten that young to have any territorial/sexual issues that are almost always the cause of this. Have you checked this little kitty at the vet for any infections or bladder issues? I don't think it's a case of "that's just how this cat is," it isn't normal at all.

In the meantime I'd get a plastic covering for the bed. If they pee only on the bed, try placing a nice clean litter box on the bed when you're not in it, on top of a plastic covering to introduce them to the box.

ive washed everything with an enzyme cleaner including the mattress also tried spraying the bedding with watered down vinegar as ive been told they dont like the smell, but still no luck

the litter box is at the foot of the bed

ive started shutting him in the laundry of a night but feel bad for doing so as its getting to the colder months. the rspca told me to keep him shut in this room for a week to see if he starts using the litter box all the time, but i feel this is a little cruel.

i would hate to see him get put down because of this behaviour
