hi... i have always had cats for as long as i can remember and at one point had to bottle feed a litter of 5 from one week old because their mother died... but Sunday a friend called me and said she found a tiny kitten on the side of the road out in the country... she gave him to me, and ive been taking care of him... the 1st night, couldnt get him to eat, he draank a little bit of water but thats it..yesterday he started eating the soft kitten foood i bought and i went and bought kitten milk for him and hes been eating a little but drinking the milk pretty good.. well he peed the 1st day (sunday) and peed last night but still havent pooped... im gettin worried about him, ive never had a kitten that has gone this long without doing so! i have a one year old cat who is neutered and hes diong pretty good with him, lets him try and share food and water, tries to help him clean himself, but is used to playing with bigger animals so tends to start to get a little rough, but i stop immediately.... but i dont know what to do about the pooping.... sorry i wrote so much!!! and id say the kitten is between 3-5 weeks and looks possible a persian mix

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

Welcome to the site!
And first of all, thank you so much for helping this poor little guy
I've had two experiences with bottle babies, and both times it's taken them a while to poop, especially with one in particular. It is VERY common, my guess is because of the change in diet from their own mothers milk to the replacment. Since it hasn't been tooo long yet, I wouldn't worry quite yet, but there's a few things you can try, like putting a bit of vegetable oil in the milk

Good luck with this little guy!

You might also try stimulating him by wiping gently, his little bum with a warm washcloth or cotton ball.

A little difficult to give advices, as you didnt wrote what you actually did. Or your friendly male cat does...
The most important is already mentioned:
Some delay isnt that usual. We did had such a case here...
You can / should stimultate the tummy and around the behind with a warm, semiwet cloth or cotton ball...
Where do you live? In cases of light constipation, the common advice in USA is conserved pumpkin mess I think, for a loosener light if there is some constipation... In Sweden we use goat butter...Preferably the norvegian variation as sold here."Mess-smör"
Food oil is also used by some.
A good site advices about caring for motherless kittens is the www.kitten-rescue.com. Your problem is also mentioned there.
btw. Him not eating in the beginning was prob he was a little low on body temperature, and prob also a little low on blood sugars.
Thus the standard advice is
keep them warm, and
give them:
some droplet of carup (corn syrup) or honey on their tongue, or water with some dextrose sugar ("grape sugar").
Last but not least: I do hope your resident cat is fully vaccinated and or used to go outside, so he is used to most bacterias and such common in your neighboorhood.... This advice is of course too late to do anything about
now, if he isnt...

You sound very dedicated to the baby. I hope you can find someone as dedicated,
Too bad your BF won't let you keep for a while longer. A bit unfair IMO.

well kitty found a good home today!! yay!!! its a lady that works at an animal shelter, she saw him and just had to have him so i took him today and gave him to her! i miss him, but i know its for the better so he can be better spoiled... i got laid off from work is why the bf really didnt want to keep him, just right now we arent in a place financially for all the shots, neutering, flea meds, etc... i had to do the right thing for him, even if it was hard, i just have a big heart when it comes to animals, at least i know i did the best i could for him by savin him and caring for him until i knew he would be healthy enough for a new home!

That's so great to hear! Just remember that you gave him the best start at life that he could have had, and now he has a cozy home to live in. And maybe one day when you get your job back and want a kitty, you can adopt one from a shelter!
