A change in luck?

We've never been lucky when it comes to...well, luck. If you don't want your car stolen, park it next to ours; we had two stolen in the space of a few years. If you want to win the lottery, get in line and buy the ticket before or after mine. Raffle? For us, it's just a donation.

However, at work we have been having safety contests. They post up a photo of the workplace and have us fill out a form describing the safety violations. Then, each month, each department or shift draws out a form and those people (one from each department) wins an ipod Shuffle. Once per quarter, all the entries are put in a box and they draw out one name, and that person wins an ipod Touch.

Well, I finally hit thejackpot and won the Touch today. Then, they held the transporation department monthly drawing, and I won the Shuffle, too! I declined to take it and had them draw again.

So...maybe our luck is changing!

Geez, kind of like all the bingo games I've played where I can get several rows going but never get the number I need to complete one.

I didn't really know either, especially the Shuffle. Apparently some sort of music device. I think I'll start a thread called "Tech Overload: Name high-tech devices and terms that might as well be Greek to you" ... My own list will have at least 12 terms. There are sooo many new things out there. I feel like I should at least "buy a clue" on the popular ones ---or risk falling too out-of-touch.

The ipod Shuffle is a small mp3 player that plays songs at random (which you have loaded in it). It come is 2 gb and 4 gb versions. That's from 500 to 1,000 songs. It costs $59 for the smaller version, which is what the company was giving away.

The ipod Touch is a much more advanced mp3 player that can also play videos, games, surf the webb on wi-fi, etc. It costs about $200 in the 8gb version I won.

I bought two lottery tickets today...

Congratulations! If you think of yourself as lucky, you will be lucky. That's my theory, anyway.
