I put icecubes in my cats water, they tend to just play with them, but then they have to dry their paws so they get some water

Where do you live? I mean, I live in the desert of CA, and my outside cats (former ferals) endure over 100 degree weather (with a little help from us). The heat never has stopped them from eating.

I don't know - but to say - are you feeding canned, or kibble -- the more moisture in the food the better.

I put the canned meat into a "stoneware" bowl, put the bowl atop a bowl of ice to keep it fresher longer. I actually freeze plastic bowls of water - very convenient to put another bowl, or saucer, on top of that.

There are other things I do like freezing a plastic quart container that once was a milk container and putting that where the cats can lay against it. (A former gallon or quart bleach container seems to have a thicker plastic and the ice keeps just a little longer.) Fortunately, we have an extra refrigerator in the garage where I can set up my summer supply of ice containers and ice cubes.

They'll probably come and eat once they get hungry.

oh, South Jersey - humidity - I remember well!
-- by-the-way - if you are feeding them outside - maybe you'll have problems with the ants? I slither vaseline around the outside of the bowl - along with making a mote of either ice or water with another larger container -- what fun!
