I'm selling my car because I'm moving and am thinking about looking at a Liberty when I get where I'm going. They're cute and I'd like something that could go off road if I needed to. Also thinking about leasing so I can upgrade in a few years, but I've never really looked into that. Any thoughts? Do you have an SUV that you do like even if it's something else? I have a Subaru Outback now that I really like but I want something a little higher off the ground.

I don't want to dissuade you from the Liberty - it may be the right choice for you - but focus on reliability and value more than looks. You're putting a lot of money into a vehicle whether you lease or buy. Even if the lease covers service you don't want to be without your car/truck for long periods. I don't know anything about Jeep reliability so it's something to look into.

As for leasing just beware of the possibility of being charged for every ding and fault, even if you don't see them. Most leases have 10,000-12,000 per year limits and it can add up quickly if you go over. You can get leases with higher mileage limits but it will cost. At that point you may find it cheaper to just buy it outright. I know the possibilities staying within a 12,000 mile limit are slim so I don't even consider leasing an option.
