I didn't see any thread about this, but my brother in Nash. area said that his place got 11" (according to his little weather station) and that rain was worsening

The news tonight says 5 killed in TN, so far and in AR the tornadoes killed a lady and a driver was washed away in the flooding roads.
Any news on our TCSers in those states???

Tomorrow is supposed to be bad, too. I really feel for all the pets & people out that way. Sending mega prayers and vibes out to those of you in the storms' paths.

We've gotten a little over 8" so far. The house is on a low plateau, so we're about 70' higher than the nearest body of water. We're fine, flood wise, but 2 of the 3 roads out are under water. The only worry I have is wind, and that we're under a tornado watch for several more hours yet.

The weather stations at Clarksville, TN and Glasgow, KY have stopped reporting. It might be glitches, or lightning, or they may be under water themselves by now.

Still raining, even harder now. The water treatment plant at Morgantown KY on the Green river has shut down due to flooding. Water is over the dam at Glenmore, KY. Mammoth Cave has closed access to all the riverside campgrounds, and to the Echo River and River Styx observatories. The ferries may have to suspend operation due to flood debris in the water.

It's a mess.

So much for the 3rd road.

I posted earlier that 2 of the 3 routes out from here were under water. Well, here's the 3rd...

I could probably get out, but with the water rising 4" per hour, and several hours (at least) of rain left, there'd be no getting back in. So, I came home and set up camp with the tribe. I did my grocery shopping early Saturday, and we've got plenty of fuel for the camp stove and lamps, and we have electricity for now. Looks like we're waiting it out.

The park service has closed Mammoth Cave. It's a public attraction, but it's also still part of the Green River watershed, and it's doing it's job moving lots and lots of water. Interstate 24 is closed in Nashville, the roof of some building washed onto the highway. Helicopters are searching upstream for where it may have come from and if anyone needs help.

I'm in TN. It's been a rough weekend here to say the least! Even the interstate here in Memphis got shut down. A lot of my friend that live near me had some pretty extensive flooding damage (especially my Millington friends.) A lot of them had their homes and businesses (not to mention cars) flooded pretty bad yesterday. I haven't seen that much rain in forever- it was crazy! The only reason my apartment didn't flood was because the entrance to my door is built up on an incline (thankfully!). There was an incredable amount of water in the walkways, and when I attempted to take the puppy outside for a walk I thought the poor thing was going to float away in the nice little river that developed in the back of the apartment complex! It was nuts! (Thankfully right now, it's pretty much cleared up.) Even The Med (one of the regional hospitals here) had extensive flooding in the ER and in Labor & Delivery to the point that they had to move patients. City Hall also had flooding to the point that when the Mayor got on the news to talk to the city, they had to move him and others out because they were having flooding issues there too. Crazy Weather!

The sirens went off and on here for about two days. (I was ok the Friday- but by the time yesterday rolled around, I was past the point of freaking out because the weather was soo nasty...thankfully Jack was here and kept me calm). Last night they even evacuated Memphis in May's Beale Street Music Fest (Memphis' massive music festival we hold every year...you KNOW the weather is horrible when they evacute Music Fest!)

The weather has really been nervewracking! I spent most of my weekend in the bathtub with pillows, blankets, a puppy, and the kitties. It was not plesant! I'm really hoping the worst is over. I am really counting my blessings right now that my apartment/car are ok and that me & my family are safe and sound. I'm definitely keeping the people who lost loved ones in my prayers though...it's been a tough, stormy, weekend!

It's finally stopped raining in the Mammoth Cave/Brownsville/Bowling Green area, and from the sounds of the reports, the worse we got were a lot of closed roads, some flooded basements and ground floor apartments with wet floors, and 1 old truss bridge washed out.

Nashville sounds like it's in bad shape though. The Cumberland isn't expected to crest for hours yet, and it's already over it's banks and into parts of the city.

Edit: Oh, and most DSL carriers are down. I'm on my lil' cheapy dial-up backup right now.

The storm is coming here to Georgia next, we are at risk of flash floods for the next 2 days....we've had winds at 30 mph all day.

Was watching the reports this morning and they mentioned the Memphis area. Sooo glad you are doing okay, Nikki!

Also glad to hear you and the tribe are okay, Mike.
