Hi everyone,

I have four cats from ages 1 year-4 years. I have been feeding my cats Nutro Max dry food since i had them. I bought a 12lb bag of Wellness Complete Health today for $30. I can't afford feeding them Wellness so I would like to mix dry foods (one-third Wellness and two-thirds of a decently priced dry food).
Is Nutro Max a good dry food to mix with the Wellness dry food? Do you guys recommend using another dry food brand that is cheaper or around the same price of Nutro Max?
I was also thinking about getting Natural Balance Ultra Premium instead of Welness since it's $5 cheaper. Are they comparable or should i stick w/ Wellness?
My cats have 24/7 access to dry food and i feed them wet food once a day.

Do you mind if I ask why you are wanting to mix Wellness in?? I think Wellness is a fine food, I am just curious what you are looking for in a food besides cost (which I completely understand wanting to save $$). It just might help to give you the best answer to your questions.

I feed Nutro Max as well, sometimes mixing in the Nutro Natural Choice just for kibble change.
My Chester Cheetah has been eating for over 11 years and always done well on it. Aside from being lazy he is a healthy guy.

As far as cost is concerned you might be able find Nutro (as well as other foods) pricing different from store to store. I know it is always more in Petco than in Petsmart. Sometimes some of the smaller pet stores might have better deals.

Natural balance is a good choice if you are looking to lower the grain level of wellness and have about the same meat as nutro but different flavors...

IMHO Wellness if tolerated is higher in quality and in my experience the animals do eat less than the other two brands mentioned... But it is very grainy outside the core

Do you have a costco? a local feed store?

Kirkland IMHO is a much better choice and half the price 25lbs is 16 $

Diamond and chicken soup are solid choices and at feed stores usually 2-6$ cheaper than nutro max

My Fin eats costco food. Kirkland Signature. Very good food for the price. He also eats a 3 oz can of wet food each day. His fur is soft and shiny and he's very healthy.

My cats love this food so much that I'm having trouble getting them to eat wet food.

I recently became aware of Purina Cat Chow Naturals. Chicken Meal is the first ingredient, and the large 14 lb bag is modestly priced at $15 or so. It contains grains, but chicken and salmon too. I'm sure it's not as good as some of the other brands, but it seems to be a nice budget option. The Purina ONE brands also have a meat product as the first ingredient, but are slightly more expensive than the Naturals at around $18-22 for a 16 lb bag.
