Oh my gosh, my poor friend

Oh dear, I am really upset today, my friend yvonne phoned me at just gone 9am, she was in hysterics and I couldn't make out what she was saying. When she had calme down she explained that her cat had been run over, fatally I am afraid to say. She one minute he was eating his breakfast, next minute one of her kids opened the door and he shot out, he is somewhat of a well known cat around her area as he used to escape quite often, even though she has tried her damned hardest to keep him in. She usually keeps the doors locked so the kids can't open it and to stop Henry from going out but her husband had left it unlocked after he had gone to work this morning.
Every other time he has gotten out in the past he has gone to the ladies house opposite her (she lives in a cul-de-sac). She thought she would look for him on the way taking the kids to school. When she got round the corner she said there was one of her neighbours there looking mortified, Yvonne asked her if everything was ok and she said has your Henry got out this morning and Yvonne said yes, the lady said I'm so sorry but he's been run over an he's not alive. There is a school bus that goes to the school twice a day and apparently he hit the cat, never batted an eyelid and just carried on, the school mums picked him up and moved him onto the pavemet.
Dear me, Yvonne is blaming herself, Henry used to be an outdoor cat and when they got him they had him fixed and he was indoor but he tried every way of escaping, she said she should have checked the door when she got up or put Henry in a different room. I told her to not blame herself at all and I've also told her to report the driver to the bus company.
I think whats upset her most aswell is the fact that it was a bus, he didn't stop and she said Henry looked terrible.I really, really feel for her and I have given my kitties an extra cuddle.x

She is my best friend ever and Henry was her baby, her only kitty, she feels so guilty and she said its like one of her children has gone. I really do feel for her but I wish she would stop blaming herself, it was a tragic accident and I am sick of it in this country that if you hit a dog with a car you must report it but cats are just not considered, yes ideally cats should be indoors but outdoor cats should be protected too. I hope the bus driver can't sleep tonight. Henry was so beautiful and only 2, its just not fair. x

I'm so so sorry for your friend's loss. My 2 year old cat just died a few days ago and while the circumstances were completely different, I know how it feels to lose one so young and so unexpectedly. This post just made me cry. Its a horrible, horrible feeling and I am so sorry that she's going through this. My Meepers will meet him at the rainbow bridge and they can play together forever .

Poor Henry! There's just no way to explain to a cat that no matter how smart he thinks he is, a 10,000 lb bus will win over a 10 pound cat, every time.

I am just so sad tonight, its wrecked my whole day, I am crying now, goodness knows how yvonne feels, it really is like a person has died. I just want to cuddle my cats so much, they just think I am mad It really feels like I have lost one of my own, the worse thing is thats playing on her mind is if he went straight away, she said that it was a mess, meaning blood, I'm sorry to say that but its playing on my mind too, its just beyond horrible. x

She's being surrounded by loving thoughts and hugs from around the world. It's a terrible accident, but they do happen, and she shouldn't blame herself. I hope she's able to come to peace.

Rest in peace, Henry.
