Noodles is in the DOG house!

Noodles has been fascinated with our refrigerator since we moved in this house, nearly a year ago now. She will come running when she hears the water going into the ice maker. She used to sit there and stare for hours at it too.

We caught her pulling the power cord out from behind it once, taped that to the back better and she left it alone. But then she started going for the water line; which runs up the side of the back there. The broom and dust pan were keeping her out; but last night I caught her red pawed with the water line in her mouth. But it was too late. She punctured it several times. Boy was I mad at her!! Of course when I caught her I had was in the middle of making dinner, the baby was crying and DH couldn't hear me hollering over the fan in the bathroom....

I need some ideas on how to keep her out of there! The refrigerator is right next to some light switches and the door to the garage; so I can't put any furniture type things. It's also very visible when you walk to the living room so I'd like to find an attractive way to block her out. All my scolding and redirecting is just not thwarting her curiosity anymore. DH and I are missing our water already. I hope replacing that line is an easy fix.

A friend of mine had the same issue, she used mesh fabric attached to the fridge & the wall, attached to the wall/floor with wood to match the trim in her house and velcro on the fridge side. On the otherside she has a cabinet so she used velcro on that

He hasn't learned that he can get back there by jumping up on the counter and down the space between the cabinet yet and fingers crossed, he doesnt

Oh that's a good idea! I'll see what I can find around here that might work. I know it would be easier to hide if it weren't so exposed.

They make plastic cord covers (used mainly to hide computer and electronic cording) that you could try. You could slip the cover around the water line to protect it. I know they come in black, but not sure what other colors.

That is an excellent idea!! I'll have to look into them too!

Even using some material to build some kind of wall maybe? Especially one that blocks it from her view not just her reach. Out of sight, out of mind, and if she can't see it anymore she will forget about it that much faster.

In addition, if she happens to like that cord so much, maybe introduce her to a toy or two that has a similar long shape. Something to redirect that behaviour into something less harmful.
