I love squirrels too. I feed them as well as the birds. If you sit and watch squirrels they are really cat-like in the way they play and chase each other around. I love when they do gymnastics in the bushes lol. We had 2 that frequented our yard for about 6 years. Unfortunately I think something happened to them as I haven't seen them since last fall. But they would run up to us and take peanuts from our hands. This was Beyonce on our porch last summer....I miss her cuteness.

Great photo!!! I love squirrels
They provide great entertainment for the cats and I. I always put food out for them, although they got greedy earlier this week and discovered the heavy plastic container I kept the seed and nuts in. There's 2 little rascals in particular who visit together and play together, and I think they are the culprits - they knocked the container off the storage area onto the concrete and broke it open. They were gorging themselves when I got home, and Smudge was staring in amazement

Yeah, they're more aggressive than the greys. At my old apartment complex (1 mile away), there was heaps of black squirrels and they'd chased all the greys away. Where I am now, it's all greys.

We're proud to have an inter-racial couple who visit our balcony: one is grey and the other black.

Unfortunately I haven't seen my cute little red friend since a very upsetting incident when he was startled on the balcony by the cats. They cut off his escape route to either wall, and was looking very distressed. I tried to grab Pushy out of the way for him, but my presence must've scared him even more, and he took a kamikaze leap off the balcony. I was horrified and didn't want to look, but had to see if he was lying there hurt. Well, he wasn't on the ground! He had leaped 31/2 stories, hit the ground running and then zipped up a big tree. He stayed there a while and told us all off. I was so relieved to see he was OK. It was just awful the way he panicked like that.

ETA: lilyluvscats, did you name your squirrels? That's so cute!

we have both black and greys in our area. They don't seem to like each other very much. I think the black ones are so pretty.

Lilluvscats, that's so cool that they were so friendly. Beyonce had lovely markings, and they both look so healthy. A couple of our visitors are really scraggly with big tufts of fur missing. I feel they need my feeder to help them out a bit.
I saw the little red guy this morning! At least I hope it was him. He was up on the bird feeder chomping away. Then to get down he took a giant leap onto the railing. I guess he's a bit of an acrobat.
Mike, that Kaibab squirrel is so pretty! I had never heard of them before.
