I believe that things happen for a reason.
Yesterday at work, I found a beautiful gold comforter with 2 shams, and the skirting. Unfortunately there was a small stain on it. Things with stains, or rips we don't put out for sale.
So I decided to buy it (If we buy something that was going to be 'bailed' then it costs us .10 cents! So I got a queen size comforter for way cheap, but had to buy the skirting and shams full price... no biggie.
I was so tired after work yesterday, and I am one to want to just chill and watch some criminal minds after work, especially if I work the next day. I had planned on doing laundry anyway.
Well, Something was making me antsy and feel like I HAD to go wash that huge comforter last night. So we went to the Laundramat(sp?) to wash it (No way it would fit it our washer and dryer).
There was a native man there, and he started talking to us. He mentioned he was from Butte, Montana. I said that is a long way to drive for laundry(Joking), and he said he was staying in Lame Deer, Montana with his family. I told him that is where my family is from. (that is the Northern Cheyenne Reservation.)
So he asked me what my family name is (Most everyone there knows everyone else). I told him Eastman, and his brother is best friends with my uncle... Come to find out... our families are good friends.
His mom came in and talked to me, turns out she's my aunti (Indin way), and invited us out to camp with them for the Pow-wow. I haven't been to the Cheyenne Pow-Wow since my mom passed away.
We talked for a while, and it felt really good. My native heritage hurts me because it reminds me so much of my mom, and I haven't dealt with THAT part of my mom's passing yet. So this is a great time for me to face it head on and get over it!
Well... She is totally willing, and wanting to teach me my native language, Cheyenne, as well as more about my history, and people. I am so happy and excited. I've always picked up languages fast, and easy. She told me how to say a few things, and she said my dialect is really good.
I believe it was my ancestors (or mom) Pushing me to go last night so I could run into her. It's time for me to face my hurt, and deal with it. I've dealt with everything I've been faced with so far with loosing her. My native heritage is the one thing I have really been avoiding. I am so thankful for running into her last night. It made me hurt, but warmed my heart and soul.
I can't wait to start learning Cheyenne
Be safe
