Found! A better litter box

Fellow cat lovers - if your cat misses the pan, I may have a solution. One of the two national home improvement chains is carrying blue plastic recycle bins for around $10 each. I purchased two for my kitties.
Originally designed to interlock, they have short legs that raise them up off the floor an inch or two, which causes my kitty to have to hop in the bin rather than straddle the pan as he has done in the past. The bin has a high back and sides, naturally containing cat spray. And the front opening is beautifully shaped and a tad deeper than a regular kitty box, allowing the normal amount of litter to sit a little bit lower and reduce my cat's chances of peeing outside the box or kicking the litter out on to the floor.
The bin has very convenient handles built into the back and sides, allowing for easy lifting and cleaning. Also, they look a lot better than the homemade boxes and the washing machine tray I have used in the past to try to contain the misses.
If you have a cat that is too lazy to step all the way into the box, this new bin might be the solution.

Could you provide a picture or a link to a website?

Yeah, my mom's new (city-provided; I don't know where they bought them) recycle bins look like they would be good litterboxes, except they have drainage holes in the bottom. Do yours have any holes? I suppose they could be covered somehow.

My 16 year old cat started to miss the pan more and more frequently. Even though the pan is in the bathroom with an easy-to-clean tile floor, it was driving me insane.

It got to the point where she was missing the pan 50% of the time. Happily, I found a solution that is working quite well.

I placed her standard sized pan inside this big bad boy:

It cost only $12 and measures 36" x 24". It looks ridiculous in my nicely appointed bathroom but I'll take that trade-off for the sanity I've regained.

She has no problem stepping over the edge of the larger container and when she misses, the pee rolls to the outer edge of the larger container instead of flowing under the smaller pan. A couple of paper towels and a spray of disinfectant, and clean up is done.

As a bonus, kitty litter that gets kicked around stays inside the larger pan and I no longer find any loose cat litter on the bathroom floor.

I don't knwo about this one. But some use those storage pans you get a Walmart and stores like that, for the litter pans. They will be large enough.

Tractor Supply sells awesome high sides litter boxes. I havent had missing issues but omg the piles of litter they would toss out the sides drove me nuts. Once I replaced all the litter boxes with high sided ones it cut back on the kicked out litter. I think the biggest one they sell is about 8.99.
