Recommendations for vit/min supplement

Hi everyone,

This looks like a great site for all things cat and wanted to ask a question.

For several years now we've been taking care of several stray cats (the survivors of a family of cats) that have mostly been fixed, a couple of which are moderately socialized and we play with them daily.

The cats have cat houses with the Lectro-soft heater pads in them and we feed them Costco kibble, canned Friskies and 9-Lives, and some people food (chicken, turkey).

Can anyone recommend a good all-around multivitamin/mineral supplement (liquid, powder, etc.) to give them?

I ask because Momma cat seems to have little sneezing fits that seem to be seasonal and one of her babies is a large male orange tabby that gets himself into trouble occassionally and comes by with a bit of a bloody face.

Any good brands/forms of supplements?

Thanks for any help.

The vets often recommend this at the shelter FortiFlora

L-Lysine, available in most health food stores can help with the sneezing

I've heard great things about Nu-Cat: http://www.vetriscience.com/nucat.php

I even used it for a while when I started home-cooking for my cat, but then he developed allergies to beef, so I had to stop. But NASC-approved pet supplements are generally pretty good (they've been tested and contain the amount of vitamins and minerals the label claims it does).

If you're feeding a commercial diet though, which you are, with any multi-vitamin & mineral formulas, I would suggest no more than 3-4 times weekly since the diet contains added supplements already. L-Lysine is fine to give daily though, I believe.

I appreciate that.
When we do give them cooked meat, we vary it and don't make it a staple, the kibble is a complete food source and we give them some canned food as a secondary source.
Giving them a small amount of a vit/min supplement ony a few times/week was exactly what we had in mind, glad you mentioned that also.
I'll also check out the vetriscience supplement.
Thank you.

FortiFlora is meant to be given daily, so it depends on the type of supplement
