Question About Feliway Placement

Thread Starter
I ordered two Feliway diffusers not long after I got Jack, intending to plug them in prior to introducing him to Sophie, to keep things calm. I don't know what happened to my order, but it only arrived today, nearly a week too late to serve that purpose!

Even though things are fairly quiet here now, I still plugged in a diffuser in the bedroom which is their main "living area" and contains their litter boxes, food, etc. I figure a little more calming encouragement can never hurt!

I'm concerned about the placement though, and that it might cause problems with their litter box use. I only have one outlet that's not behind furniture, and it's within a few feet of the litter boxes. I also don't really have any other place to move the litter boxes!

Could this cause problems with litter box use? I've read that in situations where a cat is already not using their box, the diffuser should not be placed near the litter box. Since they are not currently having any litter box issues, will this be okay? Or could it deter them from using the boxes since they are so close?

Any advice from Feliway users would be appreciated.

Hi. I looked on the Farnam page http://www.farnampet.com/faqs/czfeliway_diffuser.php but I couldn't find an answer. You can email them via their contact page http://www.farnampet.com/contactus.php

We had an issue with a kitty peeing wherever he wanted to and Feliway honestly never did a thing to stop him. I don't think placement is too important as long as it's placed in the vicinity. But don't think it'll work regardless. It really is a crap shoot.
