DEAR MYRAGE AND RAPUZEL47
I'm afraid the next two sets of questions can be answered very quickly;
I don't have a cellphone now. I had one for 10 years when my mom was in failing health I needed to be called for emergencies. It was just a basic phone-no extra stuff on it. I went through 2 phones in that period of time. When she died I got rid of it. I had missed a lot of work caring for her and ended up having issues with money. So I cut out a lot of the frills I had and the phone was one of them. I do have a land line though. Wouldn't ever give3 that up!! I don't spend a lot of time on it. You know I would rather talk to someone face to face.

Now Rapunzel47, I have done a little bit of traveling, but never been out of the country. Always wanted to visit Canada and Germany. In fact, I am saving my money to go to Berlin and Paris next fall (2011). I am pretty excited about it. I am trying to learn some basic phrases in German and French--but it's difficult. The friend I am going with is fluent in both languages so that will help tremendously!!!! I never had the desire to go to a foreign country. Americans aren't always welcomed, but the chance came up and I jumped on it!!! Now, I bet you have done some traveling. Have you been to Germany or Paris? Any advice on traveling abroad is welcomed!! Thanks To All for the questions!!! Have a Great Day

Actually, I haven't done a lot of travelling either -- into the US, and to Mexico -- so I can't really help you with Germany and France.

So how about another short set...

Chocolate:

1. Dark, Milk, or Light?

2. Plain, filled, or with nuts or other stuff?

3. Favourite brand?

4. Favourite chocolate recipe?

5. Do you have any traditions/rituals that revolve around chocolate?

I understand... I am also sorry for the loss of your mom. I wasn't working while I was caring for my mom, but I didn't have a cell phone back then. I lived very very close to her, and we both had land lines and a strange little thing that you push a button and talk into it. They were far enough away from each other that we couldn't really hear what each other were saying, but the pager worked fine!!

Well...

Do you have a fave thrift store (I assume everyone loves them)
What do you like to look for at them (or yard sales)
What is the best thing you ever got from one?
Do you feel you have ever gotten a super great deal on one or multiple items?
Was there ever anything you wanted so bad you felt you over paid for it?
Is there anything you are still looking for and haven't found?

I ask these questions because I just started working at Salvation Army, and I find it crazy how many people are excited to find some things at such great prices! I think it's a great place to work.

Be safe.

Hey Myrage, I know, I read your post about getting a job at the Salvation Army a few days ago. Congratulations!!! I used to work at one of their stores as a cashier years ago!! Isn't it great? I really enjoyed it. Now, lucky for me, I live within walking distance from one!!! YYYYIIIPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. I am there all the time. It is my favorite (can you tell)? And I love yard sales, and garage sales etc. One man's junk is another man's treasure.
The best deal I EVER got from the "Sally" as we call it in Indy; was a beautiful cherry wood dining room set including a beautiful 2-piece hutch, and leaf for the table--8 chairs. Ah, I'm getting sentimental just remembering it...got everything for $194.00!! It was the best deal on multiple items too. What a dream--unfortunately it was destroyed it a fire at my apartment (not this one) 2 years later.
I'm not wrapped up in the material world at all BUT losing that made me sick.
When I moved into this apartment I furnished my entire living room with stuff from the Sally.I bought a nice long couch, cuz I'm tall and like to stretch out on it while I watch TV. It's nice, and well cared for, I had it cleaned real good and that was all it needed. I also got a big coffee table, and entertainment set for 275.00 I would like a big comfortable chair to put next to a window I have in the living room. It looks a little naked over there.
There is a dining room table I have now(it only seats two), but I really loved it in the store. Now I hate it. I just wanted to fill a space and now i have filled it with crap! And I OVER PAID for it...too embarrassed to reveal the amount.
I have bought great winter coats from there as well. I got a full length, real leather coat for $7.00 just last week. So, I am totally thrilled you got a job there. All you have to do is wash whatever clothing you buy..and we know great things happen when you take them to the laundromat..right??
have a great day, thanks for the questions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aw chocolate!!! Be still my heart. You're so sweet to ask.

1. I love love love dark and milk chocolate. Light chocolate? What's the point?
2&3. I like plain or nut-filled chocolates, I love chocolate covered cherries. I love Snickers and Nestle's Crunch, and Reese cups. I really don't care for heath bars, milky way or three mustateers. Heath bars are too hard--too much work--and I hate that gooey stuff in the other two bars. And i like fudge and brownies etc. I guess Im a little peculiar too though, because I don't like chocolate ice cream. When I was in high school there was a candy bar called Chocolite. I ate a bar every day for four years. Then they stopped making it and I was lost. It was a thick bar that tasted just like the nestle crunch bar.I can't believe they did away with it.
4. My favorite recipe is one that belongs to my sister. I don't have it. She would make it for me when I would be up there visiting. I know that evaporated milk and chocolate pudding are involved. It's a cake that is sssooo moist it doesn't need icing. Sadly, I am estranged from my sister. She was very emotionally and verbally abusive to my mom in her last years of life. I had to stop my relationship with sis. Maybe I can do a little experimenting with ingredients and figure out the recipe myself.
5. There has been an unusual tradition that has evolved in the 13 years I have worked at the restaurant. Every year, on my birthday, someone brings in a box of godiva chocolates. I don't know if it's a guest that I've served, or someone from my past. NO one can seem to give me a description of the person either. It's like the box just "appears". It's a very kind gesture but a little scary too.
Great questions Rapunzel47-that was fun. Have a good day.

Hey Coolcat!! Hope your day has been great.Love this group of questions;

I love horror movies. I like to be scared. The scarier, the better and if it's really gross (Hannibal) then that's a bonus. I also like dramas based on real people and real events(The Queen).
I have about 109 vhs's and 52 dvd's. I joined Netflx last year and haven't bought a movie since.
Oh, it has to be Johnny Depp. He's very versatile. He can play anyone--John Dillinger, The Libertine, or the Mad Hatter. And he's cute too.
I really like Judy Dench (Notes on a Scandle) and Helen Mirren (The Queen). Not real impressed with American actresses these days. None of the good ones are living. I really liked Judy Garland when I was a little girl.
Well, I do work in a restaurant and you know celebrities have to eat. I've served a few in all my years there. let me see if I can remember some; Glenn Close, Elvis Costello, Robert Plant, John Mellencamp, Penn and Teller, Dave Matthews, David Letterman, and Conad O'brien's father! They were all nice except Robert Plant...
If there is a movie out that I really like then I will watch the award shows. But really, it's too hard for me to stay up that late when I have to be at work the next day. I just catch the highlights on the news the next day.
I was in a couple of plays in high school. It was fun, but nothing serious came out of it. I love going to plays in the city. I average about 4 a year. I have a cousin that has been in plays all her life and it paid off for her. She's in New York now and does stuff on Broadway and Off Broadway. She had several small parts in Guiding Light when it was on TV. She's the actress in the family.
I would have enjoyed meeting George Carlin. I know in real life he was very kind and intelligent. He wasn't as vicious and radical as he was on stage. I grew up listening to his material and I'm not TOO dysfunctional. I actually cried when I heard he died.
And finally CoolCat--NO WAY would I EVER want to live next door to a celebrity. I wouldn't get anything done around the apartment because i would be in the window all the time trying to see what they were doing!!!!!!!!
Thanks alot for the questions! This is a fun experience. I haven't opened up like this in a long time. It's F U N

Have a nice afternoon my friend!....
Hello my friend, I just got here from work and I'm so tired. I've been wondering what questions awaited me at home...
1. I bungee jumped off a bridge when I was younger...twice. The second time I did it I got arrested. I don't know what I was thinking...then I have been up in a hot air balloon. Both stunts were crazy for me because I'm afraid of heights..
2. I have one indoor plant, I don't know what kind it is, but I've had it for 15 years. I neglect it terribly but it won't die. poor thing. I like plants but I don't have a green thumb.
3. WOW--good question!!!! I think I would like to go back and meet...Vincent Van Gogh. I would want to know why he was such a dark, troubled soul.. I like learning about people's demons and what goes on in their heads. I would want him to know that his paintings are being sold for more money than he could ever imagine! I would also take a CD player with me and play the song written about him called, "Vincent-Starry Starry Night. It's a beautiful song. Please listen to it sometimes. I would like to try to talk him out of taking his life. And I would love it if he painted a portrait of my Bella.
4. I would like to go to place where there were few people and a lot of cats. I think life would be fantastic. And I could have as many cats as I wanted with no one complaining about it. All the cats are healthy and happy..I think that must be what the Rainbow Bridge is like...
4. What I don't like about people (some people) is the extent of their evilness. I really hate people who bully people who aren't strong enough to defend themselves. These bullies,. who are so small, and weak have to bully others to make themselves feel good! I think they are usually the same people who mistreat animals...Very rarely do I say I "hate" someone, but I hate these people..
5. I'm not religious, but I think I'm a spiritual person. I look at the beautiful things in the world and just KNOW that it all didn't happen by accident. How can you look at the face of your precious kitties and not believe in a Higher Power of some type? I was raised as a Christian and went to sunday school, and church and bible study all the time. When I grew up and stepped into the real world and began having good and bad experiences I started to form my own beliefs about life and death. I still believe that being a good person, and treating ALL living things with love and respect IS the most important thing of all. I am more prone to love the creation rather than the creator.
6. Favorite salad is one that I eat at work a lot. Spinach and fresh fruit. It has spinach, mushrooms, strawberries and orange slices with a sweet sesame dressing. I know it sounds appalling--but it's sssssssssssooooooooooooo good and refreshing.
7. Favorite pop is pepsi, other favorite drinks are ice water and ice cold milk!!! I am a recovering alcoholic so liquor is not on my list...
8. Sunsets are sooo beautiful. The sky is painted with so many different colors. Watching the sun set makes me feel safe and at peace. We all made it through another day and this is our reward...a gorgeous picture.
9. Easy answer: I don't drive...
Thanks for the questions--I have to go take a nap before I answer Rapunzel47's set. much love!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello more great questions I see, thanks...
1. Love love love vegetables!! I like broccoli the most. I like it hot or chilled, cooked or raw. Steamed is very good and put some cheese on it and I'm in Heaven.
2. So sad. My father's parents I never knew, My mom's mother died when I was 2. Her father died when i was 8. He lived with us at the time. I went in one morning to help him up for breakfast and he wouldn't wake up and was very cold. I didn't know he was dead so I started piling blankets on top on him to warm him up. Mom came in so see what was taking us to long and, of course, she found her dad dead. I do remember him, but i was a little scared of him--he was so tall and stern looking. He used to hate cats...
3. This is a funny question for me. Normally I get up between 3-3:30 am. On a LAZY day, I sleep until 4-4:30.!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOWHHHOOOOOOOO I really sleep in, don't I? And there is no going back to bed. Bella won't let me. She has too much on her schedule. After breakfast there's the belly rub, after that it's time for the catnip, after that it's play, play play, after that I get to watch HER sleep for the next 4-5 hours and I am wide awake!
4. We will skip this because I don't drive. don't want to. Have enough friends with cars I don't need one--but, I don't bug them about taking me anywhere. If I mention I have to pick something up for Bella or take her somewhere They ALL volunteer.
5. I speak English--that's my first language. I speak a little Spanish--enough for my friends to understand. I'm trying to learn a little French and German, but that not going too good. very hard languages!!!
6. I like my eggs scrambled with cheese please!!!
7. I really like horror movies. I don't care it there's a plot or not, I just want to see something scary. They don't give me bad dreams or anything. The one and only movie that I had to watch with the lights ON was Stephen King's "IT" now that gave me the willies....
8. As soon as the last words in a movie are spoken I am outta there. I don't stay to read credits. I usually have to pee. Can't wait. Gotta go.
9. Rapunzel47, this IS one of the best questions so far....I have to really think about it. There are so many things I would ask Bella to explain to me....I would ask her.."Bella, when I rub that area on your back-just above your tail--WHY do you go crazy and start licking your front paws so vigorously? Does it tickle when I do that?" It doesn't seem to hurt her. Can cats be ticklish? Thanks for the questions!!! I'm beat and going to bed. Have a great evening!!!!

Ok CoolCat I'm trying to keep up

1. I have slept on satin sheets. They're very nice. Especially on a summer night they are very cool
2. Can't whistle-can't sing, but I like to hum. I hum a lot at work when things get stressful. It relaxes me.
3. My favorite color is purple and shades of purple--lavender.
4. I usually dress up as a cat for halloween. I guess I could dress up as a cat dressed up like a pirate. That would be quite a costume, would it?
5. Well I can't take showers with Bella in the house. She causes such a fuss when I do. She cries and meows--it's a terrible sound. So I settle for baths now for her sake. I still sing though, usually Amazing Grace. I love that song. But I really destroy it when I sing it. I surprise Bella doesn't fuss about that!!
6. Favorite girl's name is Shawnita. I had a friend in high school with that name. I think it's pretty.
7. I don't follow baseball. So I'm going to say Chicago Cubs.
8. Favorite boy's name Jeremy.
9. In my pocket right now? Let's see. I've got a receipt from PetSmart, 82 cents, and chap stick. exciting, huh?
10. The last thing that made me laugh...well, there is a co worker at work that is older than anyone else that works there. He is also a server, like me, and we do tease him once in a while about his age. He is a very good sport about it. Yesterday, someone asked him what it was like to serve at the Last Supper. I laughed so hard I thought I waas going to pee my pants!!!

OK. I'm off to work in an hour. Everyone have a great day! Be Safe

9. Rapunzel47, this IS one of the best questions so far....I have to really think about it. Glad you liked that one! Bella's response reminds me of our old neurotic RB Siamese, Nibs. When he came to us (6 yo), that scritch place would cause him to lick his front, just below his chin -- furiously. We found it incredibly funny, and he didn't like us laughing, but he sure loved the scritches, and over time you could see him disciplining himself NOT to lick himself. Literally you could see him respond, and then pull himself back. Eventually, it stopped having that effect. Very funny. Thanks for the memory!

So how about some more kitty questions, then...

Of all the kitties who have been in your life...

1. Who is/was your heart kitty?

2. Who is/was the silliest? the mushiest? the grumpiest?

3. Who is/was the most challenging? in what way?

4. Any purebred among them? what breed?

5. Have you ever thought about adding a particular type of cat, whether actually purebred or not, to your crew? What breed or what specific characteristics would you be looking for? Why?

OH I LOVE KITTY QUESTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1. My heart kitty is whatever cat I have in my lap at the time. For the past few years it's been Bella. She is my life!!! She is the sweetest, gentlest kitty i have ever had the pleasure of knowing!!! And she brings out the good parts of me!!!! I am a better person because she is in my life.
2. I'm going to start with the grumpiest--PATCHES. what a bad attitude. She hated everyone. Would come up to me, purring and head butting and then turn on me with hisses and swipes!!!! She was also bullied by my other cats. I was constantly on watch for any cat fights. The mushiest has been BELLA. She always wants loving. She will reached out and pat me on my arm, and groom me. She will also walk up to me and give me kitty kisses on my nose and cheek. And those belly rubs that she enjoys so much. She doesn't look very lady like when she is sprawled out on her back in front of company. The funniest was LITTLE MAN TATE. He found me in a parking garage downtown on New Year's morning. He was just a puff of fur running toward me and he literally jumped into my arms! He then crawled into my coat pocket and off to home we went. Whenever I would go to the bathroom he would crawl up into my underwear and fall asleep!! And, when he thought he needed some extra attention he would stand up on his hind legs and walk around the apartment. That was always funny and a little weird.
3. Patches was the biggest challenge to me. She had behavioral issues and epilepsy. I rescued her from the vet's office because her owner was going to have her put to sleep. He said she was just too much work for him. So I took her home with me and loved her for 16 years, until she left me for a better home (the Rainbow Bridge). Her death was the hardest for me because I never really knew if she understood how much I loved her.
4. No purebred...just wonderful hodge-podge kitties. Of course I have never turned away any cat. I have just never come in contact with a purebred.
5. I have always had mutiple cats. But I promised Bella that while she lived with me I wouldn't bring another cat into the family. She came from a house with so many animals that she was neglected. She so sweet and quiet she just got lost in the crowd. She would do things for attention, like pee everywhere and the only attention she got then was a scolding. She could hide for days and no one would even notice her absence!!!! I brought her into my life and heart and she is the queen. She's the boss-she just lets me live here because I know how to open the cat food cans. In the past, I have never thought about a type of cat to get. If it purrs it will usually find me.
Thanks for giving me this chance to talk about a few of my babies....Be Safe

8. Your favorite book(s)?

9. Do you collect anything?...
10. What song do you want played at your funeral?

1. My best, and safest place is on the back of a motorcycle. i love riding them. Of all the guys I've dated (well, it not that many) over half of them have had bikes. It's almost a requirement
2. I love where I live. I love my apartment, my neighborhood and my town. I hate the tornadoes in the spring and the snow in the winter, but mother nature would be doing something wherever I lived.
3. I have 2 TVs one in the living room and one in the bedroom for Bella. She likes Animal Planet so it stays on that channel 24/7.
4. My loudest friend is Turtle's daddy. He doesn't talk-he yells. I'm always telling him to use his "inside voice."
5. I don't have any other pets. I tried having fish (bettas), but that didn't turn out well for the fish. So I stopped. I'll stick to kitties. They are a little easier to care for than fish.
6. I don't think I have any secret admirers. If I do they better let it be known. I'm not getting any younger!!!!
7. Book. The Shack is my favorite of all. It's very touching. A brief description. A man loses his daughter to a pedohile/serial killer. He grows bitter and hates God for what has happened. Then one day he receives a mysterious "note" in his mailbox, inviting him to a shack in the woods. He takes a gun and goes because he thinks the note is from his daughter's killer. Who and what he finds there is absolutely amazing and up lifting. The most surprising an original novel I have ever read!!!!
8. I collect EVERYTHING that has a cat on it. Nothing else--just cats!!!!!!!!!! My friends say I am very easy to buy gifts for.

9. Boy, this is a great question.! My funeral song----The Police, "Every Breathe You Take" ...I'll be watching you! That'll scare a few people.
10. Oh wait, I almost forgot one!!! My worse injury? I fell a couple years ago and really messed up my left wrist. And I am left handed. I don't have insurance or any extra cash to give to a doctor. So I went to Bella's vet. He xrayed it and found out it was cracked. He even put a splint on it. Then swore me to secrecy because he wasn't suppose to "do" people. It eventually got a little better. It only hurts now when it's getting ready to rain. I'm been very lucky. I have never had surgery or been in a bad accident. Knock on wood. Thanks. Be Safe

Hi there. So today, it's about you, your childhood, your siblings...

1. How many siblings do you have? Where are you in the birth order?

2. Did you get along with your siblings as a child? Do you now?

3. How close were/are you to your parents?

4. Do you have a special childhood memory you'd like to share?

Oh my cyberspace. Well here goes,,,
I bought my little notebook in January and immediately got on TCS. I didn't try any of the other sites .I am still very new at this computer stuff so forgive my ignorance

It's an Acer and I have firefox
I love surfing. I'm either here or on youtube. I also do alittle shopping on Amazon. com. Just bought some wonderful books on the feline mind and a couple on health and behavior of the house cat.
(I know this is off topic, but I have a huge library of nothing but cat books
Ok, I have a land line now. Used to have a cell phone--a motorola flip top--but got rid of it.
I checked out both facebook and twitter. twitter is ok, I don't like facebook. I've had some friends who had some unpleasant experiences and I just decided to pass on getting involved in it.
I'm really still new at this computer stuff and most of the time I come across interesting sites just by playing around and surfing. That's how I find TCS.
