spay but still in heat?

My vet examined Gemma when i got her she has a faint faint scar on her belly-from a spay my vet said. I explained she goes into a heat and has phantom pregnancies-i've counted the days she does this it is 64 days between these heats. Is it possible that she had a pediatric spay done but an ovary or something got left in there, which causes her to go into a heat? My vet didnt feel comfortable reopening her either. I do have 3 other vets so i may take her to one of the other vets for another opinion but I figured I'd ask and see if anybody has gone through this before....pic of her inbetween heats-

i did take her back to the vet when she looked like this she was NOT pregnant but was huge and had started to produce milk. she does this each time.

Years ago, my son adopted a shelter kitty who was spayed. She soon developed a false pregnancy, with milk. She was re-opened and it was discovered that a bit of uterine tissue had been left behind. It was apparently sending out just enough hormones to cause the problem. It was removed, she was fine after that.

Years before that, I had a kitty spayed. The following month she became PG.
She delivered her litter of kittens.
How was that possible?
It turned out that the vet had taken a phone call during her surgery (pre-cell phones) then when he returned, he thought he had already done the spay. He closed the surgery site and that was that.

Needless to say ...
I had a long talk with him. He agreed to re-do the spay, spay & neuter the kittens and give them their innoculations... no charge. After that, I did not use him again.

You might want to wait and see how it goes. On the other hand, if you are uncomfortable with your vet's recommendation, a second opinion from a good vet, might be a good idea.

Other members will hopefully have more feedback for you.
Gemma is a beauty.

Yes it can happen.
It happened to my friends sphynx a few months ago.
They left some tissue from the ovary in.
She had way my pain when the rest if it was removed then when she was first altered.

Has she been around any males? She may not be spayed at all but maybe had a hernia repaired or a c-section at some time. I'd have a vet open her up to take a look. At the very least there's a bit of ovarian tissue left, at worst she's not spayed at all.
