We took in a stray kitten when he was about 4 months old and vaccinated him and neutered him. He never wanted to stay inside even after being neutered and he didn't get along with our indoor kitties anyway so we kept him outside unless he wanted to come in which was rare. He's been with us for a year now and a week ago today he disappeared. This is really unusual for him to do this, he had never been away for more than a 1/2 a day at most and is always around at meal times. So we went to the humane society twice this week but he hasn't been there. I guess it is pretty certain that he isn't coming back. I'm hoping someone took him in and that nothing untoward happend to him. He was the sweetest kitty, not ferral at all. He loved to be petted and held, he just didn't want to be inside. Now, I wonder if that was a big mistake.

Why give up like that? Why not go looking for him? Put up flyers, go door- to door...? Sit out on the porch with some of his heated up favorite food. Or something with his or your smell on it...

I'm sorry if it sounded like I was giving up. We have searched for him throughout the neighborhood and put an ad in the paper just this morning.

best of luck- don't despair. I had one cat who was gone over a year and she showed back up.
