At last I am going to get a knee replacement on 6th July. It will only be the right knee to start, but I will feel so much better, Right now it is agony to do anything. I will be fairly useless for 6 weeks afterwards, but my daughter will come and stay over the summer and drive me to physio sessions etc. I met my surgeon yesterday and saw the clinic - amazing place that specialises in hips and knees, so I am very happy.

Congrats and GOOD LUCK!!!

My mom had a knee replacement last summer and now you would NEVER know she had one she wears high heels and runs around town with no pain in her knee. Its gets sore when the weather changes or if she does too much but she feels so much better.

She will tell you the key is to take the PT seriously and do all the at home exercieses.

AGAIN good luck!! (mom also had hers in July)

The next couple of months are going to be awful, waiting, but it can't be helped. The surgeon said he could do it in a fortnight's time, but I have to wait till Faith can be here to look after the animals and drive me round. Very frustrating.

Excellent Jenny! Having Faith there will be lovely though so try to enjoy having her drive you around and just being there. I'm sure you will.

Jenny, this is great news on two fronts - not only are you getting this taken care of, but you're going to get to spend some wonderful time with your daughter!

PLEASE remind us when it's coming up, I do want to send vibes closer to the date, though I'm sending them now.

The people that I know that had the surgery all comment on how long they put the surgery off and how wonderful it feels after surgery and therapy. Good luck and remind us closer to the date!

I'm an occupational therapist and my husband is a physical therapist. You are going to be so happy.

Do as many "pre-op" exercises as you can now, to strengthen your quads. It will make rehab easier. Also, have lots of ice available for post op. It will be your best friend!

I doubt you'll be "useless" for 6 whole weeks. The most inactivity will be the first 2-3 weeks and then you'll be up and about on a "modified normal schedule" with rest breaks scattered through your day.

Good luck!!
