Or is it just me?

The only actual "cat toys" that get played with around here are the 3 mice that Danny likes to fetch. And they get played with so often (if you're sitting on the couch it's almost guaranteed you'll get a mouse dropped in your lap to throw...over and over and over,
), well...we named them. The little round pink mouse is Floyd, the big blue mouse is Barry, and the medium sized leopard mouse is Greg. At the moment we're playing with Barry....

You know I really thought I was nuts (well, I probably still am), but about a month ago when only Floyd had a name I said something to Josh about how I should name the other two, he looked at me with this slightly ashamed look and said "I already have....." I couldn't stop laughing!

So, come on. Make me feel better about my crazy cat ways!

Years ago, Penny had a beige-colored Beanie Baby in the shape of a housecat. I called it her "muñeca" which is Spanish for "doll". Ocassionally, she'd walk around with the muñeca in her mouth. Sometimes she would beat it up.

Someone posted a pic here on TCS. Their kitty had the same exact muñeca. I had a good laugh seeing it.

Anyway, la muñeca got lost somehow and is no longer with us

Other than that, toys here don't have names.

Only for the old beaten up mouse toy they have. Most of the fur has been pulled/licked off. Tail, ears, eyes and all of that was removed long ago by me. So it's just this weird skin (rabbit) covered form. We call it Ugly Mouse. The cats still love it more than the fluffy mice.

I just say "where's your ________ (mousie, feathers, ball, bottle cap, etc.)?" That's cute that your toys have names though!

Oh yes
There are all kinds of weird names that are called out in our house. Some toys get named right away, some only if they become popular. Some have just the names they come with from the shop, like (mice)Roni and (sar)Tino the Fat Cat catnip toys. I am into naming big time anyway, so this is my weakness.

Well, their toys don't have proper names like Barry!
I think that's cute.
Pushy has a favourite called the octopussy, that's the only one we've named I think.

I named a few toys but not actual names like you. I like that! We just have White Mouse, Black Mouse, Grey Mouse, Mr. Jinglemouse (blue mouse with bell on the tail), and Mrs. Jinglemouse (pink mouse with bell). The rest don't have names.

We actually have 2 grey mice but Grey Mouse refers to only one of them, and both BF and I know which one we mean when we mention Grey Mouse.

We have "Ikea Rat" and "The Y".
Ikea Rat got it's name because of where it's from, and the size is more like a rat. My husband named "The Y" many years ago, and the name stuck. We have an earlier version with 2 colored balls in it. Ikea Rat is Lola's all time favorite toy. She has played with "The Y", but I can count on 1 hand how many times my older cats ever even looked at it.

Our girls would have you believe they don't play with toys, but since none of the toys have the ability to walk, I assume that their movement around the house has been assisted in some way by some cat.
The only one of these that has a name is Doofus Dog and he came with that name. He travels a fair bit. The laser pointer is called Mr Spot. They have to admit to liking him, in order to ask for him to come out to play -- and Cindy at least does that.

Quincy has a purple octopussy too

Other than that, we call Autumn's fave toy (which is so old I am not even sure what it used to be in a former life) her baby because she guards it like one but no names like Barry

Well, I call them descriptive things like fur mouse, feather mouse, squeeky mouse, squirrel. Not very imaginative, I know.
