Good morning!

Today is sort of bittersweet to me. It will be my last Question Of The Day. My work schedule is changing and I will no longer have Wednesday off. We are starting up a new Bariatric Surgery program where I work (I'm the General Surgery Coordinator) and the new surgeon has surgery scheduling time on Wednesdays. My days off will be alternating Tuesdays and Thursdays, so it will be too hard to make a commitment to QOTD.
Rigel has found someone who will take over from me, so we can keep the fun going! I'll certainly continue to particiate with my answers.

Here's my last Question Of The Day:

What is the oldest thing in your refrigerator right now?

I have an empty prescription bottle for Spooky, from 1999, when she was so ill before she went to the Bridge. I can't bring myself to throw it away. My oldest food items are Taco Bell hot sauce packets from around the same time. I had a boyfriend who LOVED Taco Bell (yuck!), so I kept those in the fridge for him. I guess I"m waiting for them to grow legs and walk away one of these days, lol! I really need to throw those out.....10 years should be enough seniority, right?

A vial of insulin from 2001. It belonged to Little Man Tate and, like you, I can't bear to throw it away. As far as food-I guess there is some milk left in a 1/2 gallon jug...don't know how old...cottage cheese, anyone?BLAAA

Too bad hubby cleaned out the fridge, I had some gorgeous science growing in there.

Right now though, I'm pretty sure the oldes item I have is Bacon, that I brought home march 29th to make my husband for his birthday breakfast, and it turned out he was too sick to eat anything.

now whats old in the freezer? thats a different story..

Ha-ha! I just noticed a container of dried prunes in tha back of the refrigerator. Noticed it a few days ago. I even said to myself, "How old is that?" I had forgotten I had it. I really don't know how old it is, though. I think I'll throw it out.

I did have some cranberry sauce from Thanksgiving that I tossed out. It actually still looked good.....but, Thanksgiving ...... I don't think so.

I have a plastic cup with holes in the lid that has flour in it. I use it to sprinkle the cake pans when I make a cake. The rest is fresh.

I'm sorry to hear that you won't be doing the QOTD....I've enjoyed your questions.

The oldest thing in my fridge? Probably a bottle of maple vinegar as it's probably about 2 years old. I don't use it as often as I thought I would, just in some salad dressings. It's good....vinegar doesn't spoil, does it? I don't think so?

There are things definately at various freshness levels...but the thing that I deliberately kept was a 1/2 glass of milk that my dad couldn't finish shortly before he died in 2000.

I kept it in there, covered for about 6 months and then it was just kind of hard and icky looking.

We have to hang on to things, don't we?

What a great idea!

I have a large container of Folgers coffee I got on sale and made a couple pots before I realized I am not a "folgers" kinda gal.

Hmmm.... that is a hard one. I think it is a partial can of jalapeño peppers. Don't know how old they are, but at least a year or so. It is DH's job to clean the fridge

I hope your new surgery program goes well Pookie-Poo!

I think the oldest thing in my fridge is a jar of aloe vera gel. It is meant to be eaten, but tastes disgusting, so I've kept it in there to use on burns. It's been in there for at least 5 years. OMG, I didn't realise until now!

I have a jar of jam that has been there for a long time, I'm sure it has passed it's expiration date. I keep meaning to throw it out but I keep forgetting

Sorry to see you are leaving but the rest of us will keep questioning on with hopefully interesting subjects. Today's question was a very good one.

I clean out my fridge/freezer every couple weeks so there isn't anything old in there. The oldest thing is probably the container of mustard I bought last summer. We don't eat mustard very much.

There's no place like home
I throw things out when they hit code, but DH gets mad when I throw out his food. I think there are a couple of jars of gourmet olives that have been in there for a couple of years. I don't eat them. He hasn't eaten them, but heaven forbid that I throw them in the garbage.
