a glass- I usually always have a glass full of water on my desk, and Jake learned this and would come up and look for water there and always drink from there. This has been happenning within the past month..Eventually he stopped drinking from his water fountain. He just comes up on my desk and meows if there is no water there. So i've been always leaving a glass of water there for him...He is so odd!

Your glass of water is likely a lot fresher, he can tell.
I bet if you kept a bowl down along with the fountain and changed it once or twice a day he would like that better.

The thing about our cats is when they learn something new, they never forget it. So you have taught Jake something. Our Max would only drink water from a running faucet when he was an inside cat. When we had to make the change with our cats to an outside enclosure (allergies of hubby) it was hard, but he finally learned to drink from a bowl.

Bella will walk through a pack of hungry pitbulls to get to my water glass. I don't mind sharing-I just hate the taste of fur.

Holland does the SAME thing. I have a large plastic tumbler (32 oz.) that I keep my water in. She LOVES it when I first fill it up, because it's easier for her to drink out of. I have to keep an eye on her though, because if it's next to my laptop and it isn't full, she will stick her entire head in the cup trying to get to the water. I'm always afraid she's going to knock it over onto my keyboard.

I don't mind her drinking out of it, but it never fails... she sticks her nose too far in, gets it in the water, and then *sneeze*. Time to get a new cup of water.

Well of course, lol! Your water is likely much fresher and much colder! Mine LOVE drinking out of a glass of ice water.

Thats ALL of mine have ever done. I have different (what I call water stations) around the house with 2-3 8 oz glasses of water. And one stainless steel bowl. But all of them are on a table. They will not touch them on the floor.

Oscar is the same way, from day one(got him when he was ~6 weeks i think) he has never drank out of a bowl. He has cups on the inn table in the living room and one on the headboard in the bedroom, and anywhere else that he can get a drink from. I thought he was the only one that did that.

My grandma used to have a pretty longhaired tortie named Spook....she would ONLY drink from a Dixie cup filled to the brim on the kitchen counter. She'd sit on the counter every morning glaring at people, waiting until someone would fill her a fresh Dixie cup. She was a funny one.
