When do eyes stop changing color?

I know that different breeds of cats reach their full growth at different ages. Is there an average age that their eyes stop changing color?

Shareena and Miss Patchwillow went from blue through gray, gray/hazel, and finally settled on green. I'm pretty sure they were less than a year old when they got to the green that they have now.

Iris and Cali had gorgeous bronze eyes, almost the same color as the dark brown part of their fur. By the time they were a year old they had gone through gold to a bright yellow. They're a year and a half old now and in the last month I've noticed that Cali's eyes especially are going green. They're a really pretty clear green in the middle with a hazel ring around the outside. Iris' eyes are more of a yellow/hazel mix, but greener than they used to be. Any idea why they would suddenly start changing at this age?

Merlin is listed as having gold eyes, which he does, mostly. He's developed a bright green ring in the center, just around the iris. Is the green likely to expand so he'll eventually have all green eyes? I know that both green and gold are acceptable eye colors for abys. My question is, what color do I list when I enter him in shows?

i know what you mean. Firefox, of course, began w/the 'baby blue' ones, then they changed to bronze - very pretty, & different from the other 4... now, they're an almost emerald green!
Java's changed from orange to light green. so all 5 have green eyes, albeit differing shades.

Seems with mixes, you end up with green or gold-green eye color because of the background being so mixed.

With most purebreds the eye color is more set and by 6 months old will pretty much stay as is. Sometimes they change a little, but the color is usually set by then.

With Merlin, I'd stay with the gold on the entry blank - it really doesn't matter other then on white cats as to what the eye color is when in the class. Most all breeds do not list the eye color on the description in the catalog - only time you see it would be, for example:

Gold-Eye White Champion Persian
Blue-Eye White Grand Champion Persian, etc.

Green eyes can take up to 2 years to change completely, at least with Ocicats.

Iris and Cali do have a fair number of spots mixed in with their stripes and patches. However, I doubt they have any ocicat in them. Maybe they're just late bloomers.
