My cat was not named for 3 months because I didn't know that cat responds to their given name, then I said to myself that it is much cuter if I call him by his own name.

I was looking on my Snoopy collection then Charlie Brown came to my mind. Then I named him Charlie

And I think he likes his name, he's responding to it!

I just love talking about my cats!!

Mysyc, I got her when I was 23 (She turns 12 this year!!) She is a very beautiful calico, my first kitten, so I wanted her to have a great name. I got on the internet, I was getting to know the net at that point, and getting better at searching it. I tried different sites for cat names, and just didn't find one that jumped out at me. Finally I found a site called 'mystical names for magical cats' and I was like... THAT'S IT!!! Mystyc!!
I've never looked for it since, I wonder if it is still around, lol

My husband named my cat Myth, after a set of books he read that had Myth in all the titles... Myth-ing link, in that way. I don't have her anymore
I miss her, but I couldn't keep her. She was meant to be an only cat, I couldn't see rehoming 3 cats to keep one. I'm so horrible for that. I still feel guilty.

My hubby also named MyRage... She's my beautiful Torti, long hair with a super fluffy tail. Since my first two kittens names started with My... I had to go with that. So we named her Mirage, and I spelled it MyRage.

Ladi NyghtShade.... Yeah, her brother and sister got names before she did. They got named Merri & Pippin, because we thought they were twins, both little boys. Hard to tell apart as kittens, and always together. One day we realized that they didn't have the same equipment, so Pippin became Maid Merrion, and Merri became Lord Pippin! lol They are still Merri n Pippin though, little trouble making kitties!! (Merri, Pippin, and Shadey were fosters that MyRage took care of after she had a miscarrage(SP?) ) I went through a few names, and the whole time her name was right infront of me. I was reading a book about a witch in the 'landover series' by Terry Brooks. The witches name was Night Shade. Shadey is a little black manx girl. I usually just call her Shade or Shadey, or baby... lol

Be safe.

Aramis (AKA Moo) was named after the 3 Muskateers. Aramis is the one who is a priest (and moo is black and white and looks like he has a roman collar)
Over time his name got shortened to Aramoose then Moose then Moo or Moo cat. He responds to all of them.

Tilly: her REAL name is Matilda named by my husband. She HATES it so I started ot call her Tilly Bean (because she is small and white) and now she responds to the name Beanie or Bean or Beaner or Queen of the Beans.

My friends laugh at me because my cats have a tons of nicknames and the vet gets confused too. THey know I call Matilda Tilly, but when I last called I was like..so Bean needs her meds refilled and they were like...who???

It doesn't matter they repond either way.

ALSO my cats respond when I speak Japanese to them...my teacher told me to pratice talking so I talk to the cats in Japanese and now they respond to certian phrases! They also have their own Japanese nick names.

Mine is really boring, someone I worked with had a kid named Jake who was 2 years old, and she showed pics of him all the time and he was the most adorable little boy and so in my mind I started to associate Jake with "cute"....and so when I got my furbaby I decided to name him that.

Mickey: he had huge ears and looked like a mouse (or so my five-year-old thought).

Dusty: everywhere he went his first day here he seemed to bring back dust webs on his whiskers (which says a lot for my housekeeping, huh?) He still picks up dust like Pigpen.

Scaredy: she was feral, and to this day remains afraid of men's voices, is terrified to be in a room with my 18-year-old son (and no, he's never mistreated her), and is quickly becoming afraid of my 11-year-old son because of his fast-changing voice. She startles VERY easily, as I guess do most ferals. I originally named her Autumn; my husband dubbed her Scaredy cat, and it stuck.

I love stories about how peoples' kitties got their names! Some of mine came with their name and it fit them, others had to be changed to match their personality.

Autumn: I have always wanted to name a tortie cat Autumn, and I found my little girl who just happened to be named Autumn! We call her Autumn Bottom, or Oscar the Grouch because she has a very round face, big eyes and her mouth turns down like she disapproves of everything.

Duck: Her original name was Dixie, but it just didn't fit her. As we got to know her, she got very solid (but she looks rather fat) so she waddles when she walks. Her meow sounds an awful lot like little quacks, especially if you call her name - she comes running to you quacking! We also call her Duckadoo, Duckadoodles and Quackers. The vet usually has to verify her name on the phone - I think they think her name starts with F instead of D! :-)

Louie: That's his original name. It really fits him. At the time we adopted him, I never missed an episode of The Sopranos and my favorite character was Paulie Walnuts. I asked my DH if we could name him that, and he said no, Louie fit him better. But he could have a mafia name - since he's neutered, his full name is Louie No-Nuts! We also call him Louis, or Louie-Lou. For some reason, DH calls him Bubba.

Luna: Her original name was Flopsy (huh??) and we hated it. My DH couldn't remember it and kept calling her Floopsy, Floppy, Flipsy and so on. We are big Harry Potter fans, and she seemed to be rather silly, so we named her after Luna Lovegood. Her name has morphed into Bella Luna, Ooney (said several times in a row), Ooners, Ooners Ballooners and Ball of Kitten.

Peanut: Her original name was Quincy. She is a squat little tortie with a round head and a tail that curls up and over her back like a pig tail, and she's barrel chested and walks like a bulldog. We named her Peanut because she's so small. Poor thing, now she's stuck with Peanut Poop or Peanut Poopers. ;-)

Shyla: My sweet girl was named Casey at first, but it didn't fit her. She is gray and white, and for some reason is extremely afraid of everyone but me. With me she's the most lovey girl, but is rarely seen by anyone else, so she became Shy-la. I just call her Shy Shy or Shyla Baby.

Turtle: This is her original name. My vet tech named her this because she thought her tortie fur looked like the colors of of the candy. She is also known as Turtle Peekers, Peeks, Peekers Poo, Fuzz, and Foofers (she's a longhair and EXTREMELY fluffy).

Needa/Wee: When we adopted her, she was named Theda. We thought that was the ugliest name, especially for such a cute tiny kitten. When we got her home, we quickly realized she was a very demanding tortie. Her name quickly changed to Needa as in "I needa drink!" "I needa toy!" "I needa cuddle!" Her nickname became The Wee One because she was 1.5 pounds when we got her and fit in your hand. Now we never even call her Needa, just Wee or Da Wee. ;-)

When I first got Lilly, she was already named Kringle. It was alright, but I didn't particularly enjoyed calling her that. One day she got into a big mess and was chewing on things she wasnt suppose to. I got really scared and the first name that came to mind was "LILLY BETH!" and i shouted it and she responded and that was that

Now I call her Lilly bear, Lil mama.

My mom callers Lilo and my sister calls her Lillikers
lol

She's full of names!
