Every year by this time, the shelter's called us with foster babies to take...
Buuut, yesterday we called up to ask if we were needed, and they said they hadn't gotten in ANY mommies at all this year! Even though it's a pretty small area, I was really surprised since this year has been so warm compared to other years. But I'm glad, hopefully there will be less kittens this year...fingers crossed!

Look on Craigslist and you will see tons and tons of kittens.
I hope it's a slow season for your shelter.

Yes, let hope it. Statistically speaking, there is always some variations.

The danger is it is not statistics playing around here, but a campaign.

Either a very successfull neutering campaign - which would be excellent

OR an intensive killing off strays, homeless, ferals... Which sorrowfully happens.

Ya, I was just looking on the craigslist, and there's like, millions of adds saying, "Can't take of of her anymore," or "I don't have the time anymore"...it makes me so mad!
Why did they even get a cat if they weren't gonna care for it all the way through?

Cats are so easy to care for really. I mean provide them food and water and scoop out the litterbox and they are happy most of the time. I honestly don't understand the reason "I just can't care for" or "don't have time for" excuses when it comes to cats. Dogs are a different story, they do take a lot of a person's time but you really should research that before getting one.

I couldn't agree more...

Aaaaannnnd, scratch my main post out because we just got a call from the shelter, they have a pregnant mommy in! We'll be getting her Friday...apparently she's been out in the cold because one of her ears is apparently frost-bitten
I'm really excited to get her though!
