Lion Cut for Zoe (recently had surgery)

My lil girl just had surgery last week and she has a half shaved butt and shaved spots on her front paws for the IV.

My girlfriend and I have always wanted to get her a lion cut because she is so furry and loves to groom herself and coughs up hairballs. Do you think if we waiting 3 weeks after surgery, it would be ok to get her a lion cut?

You'll have to ask the vet that as she'll need to be sedated for it. After all the drugs going into her system recently they might want you to wait even longer.

Why didn't you ask them to shave the rest of her when she was anesthetized? Didn't think about it at the time? (you know what they say about hindsight lol )

Yeah, exactly. I didn't think about it at the time. LOL It was the last thing on my mind. I only really started seriously considering it after seeing her jacked up haircut. LOL

If they need to sedate her for it, I highly doubt I will do it exactly for the reasons you stated. She's had enough drugs and stress lately. If the lion cut is that stressful to her, then it's not worth it at this point in time in my opinion.

Oh well, my lil' girl will have to deal with a jacked up haircut for a bit.

Cats don't care, luckily. Does she seem to shed a lot? You could try using a furminator and ask the vet about adding a fish oil supplement. I doubt it would interfere with her healing, and may actually help it, but it would be best to double check.

ETA: I just saw the pictures. I'm sorry, I laughed a little at your bare butt/backed kitty. Her hair cut is cute/amusing. You might want to run a detangling comb through her um butt fur and maybe consider trimming it while she has that collar on.

LOL - Her fur looks much better now. She had quite the ride. Before she the surgery, she was constipated so she had an enema. That plus being in a sling, etc made her a little nappy. We started brushing her again a few days after the surgery.
