Hi All,

I am new to this website but have joined as I am desperate for some advice. I am fairly certain that my beautiful cat Roxy is pregnant with her first litter which is something we are extremely excited about with the thought of some new babies joining the family!

As this will be her first little for both her and me I am curious about certain things and also unsure.

I am unsure about the definition of 'pinking' of the nipples. I believe she has always had (light) pink coloured nipples and this hasnt changed...... just the length? is this right? They have gone from small lumps to longish nipples but the colour has remained the same. She has put on weight and her whole behaviour has changed, She is eating more, more affectionate and for the first time ever is allowing me to touch her tummy!

Any advice is much appreciated.
Charlotte

I too have my very first litter coming. I never understood about the "pinking" until Baby Girl did it. The best way to describe it is that the nipples turn bubble gum pink at around 21 days. Hers look kinda pink previous to this. Now the majority of the nipples turned pink around the same time but a few never have. Baby Girl is 51 days now and her nipples are only tinted pink again but they have more then doubled in size. Before when I rubbed her belly I couldn't feel her nipples through her fur but now you can't miss them.

How far along to you think she is or know, whichever is the case?

I am the adopter of a pregnant cat and this is my first time having a litter of kittens. Most cats have white or flesh colored nipples but when they are pregnant they get bright pink. I can't tell you what Carly's nipple color was before she was pregnant since she came to me pregnant but her nipples are bright pink, almost red.

My cat just had her babies and her nipples never really got pink. I just figured out she was pregnant a month ago and she had her babies a couple days ago.

The best indication for me was her behavior changes and when she was laying down I would rub her belly and the babies would move (You could see if from across the room).

It sounds to me like your cat is pregnant but she could also be experiencing a false pregnancy (This happend to us once). I hope for your sake she is, but if not it will happen soon.

So that would put her around 5 weeks and that seemed right to me based on her symptoms (after I calmed down and stopped seeing every symptom listed on websites). Friday I'm going to put her at 6 weeks. I got her just under 2 weeks ago and had to bathe the fleas off of her right away. When bathing her I noticed that her nipples felt larger than a normal cat but didn't think much of it. I was more concerned with letting her adjust and getting her fixed up. When she was laying on her side a few days after that her belly looked a big large and round. I looked up cat pregnancy symptoms online and sure enough she had them all. We have just about 3 weeks to go but I cannot feel babies moving yet. From what I understand that happens when they are around 7 weeks into the pregnancy.

Baby Girl is 7 1/2 weeks. She is a small, skinny cat (she only weighs 5 lbs. normally). We was able to see a small weight gain around 4 weeks and she has continued to gain. Now when you look at her from the top both sides of her belly bow out. I know that her belly is steadily going to keep growing but I don't think she'll get huge. We had an x-ray done at 43 days and there was only 2 kittens.

Thank you for all your advice.

I have really studied Roxy this evening, she is following me everywhere which she doesnt normally do and is not going out as much as usual. When i look at her from above I can only describe her stomach as looking like it is bowed out if that makes sense. Her tummy has also got very hard. I can feel smallish lumps but cannot feel any movement. Roxy is long haired and extremely fluffy and I could not feel her nipples before through all the fur but now they are so prominent! There is such a huge part of me that believes she is pregnant but I still doubt it a little because its not something I have experienced before. I would take her for an ultra sound but she hates her tummy being touched so much and always has done and I just cant face putting her through that..... I guess its just watch this space. If she is pregnant then I think she is about 5 to 6 weeks gone so I would expect more changes really soon.

You can try an x-ray. They wouln't really need to touch her belly. But again I don't know what the cost would be for you. I've used my vet for so long that they only charged me for the x-ray itself (no office visit, etc.) so I only paid $45.00 for mine.

It sounds to me like what made me assume Carly was pregnant. I hadn't had her before her pregnancy so there was nothing for me to compare her changes to but I did and still do feel lumps and her nipples are very prominent.

She sounds pregnant to me..do you have a picture of her? That may help us tell you if she is or not, but we're not experts

Hi Everyone,

I just had some lovely cuddle time with Roxy and whilst so I managed to get a good look at her nipples and was surprised. The first one didnt have much change but when I went to the next there was a dark red colour right round the rim that at first thought looked a little like dried blood. When I looked at the next one there it was again but even more.... like a dark red colour and sort of spotty looking, like little dots?

I am now convinced is pregnant!

I will try and take some pictures of her tomorrow, when I do is there anyway of putting them up on here as when I tried to upload some others it told me I do not have the correct permissions! Is this because I am a new member?

It sounds like she's pregnant!

To upload pictures most of us use tinypic of photobucket. You upload pictures there, then you take the image code and paste in on your reply- then it comes up as the picture
