Desparate need for foster/adopter for seniors in GTA

Hey, I know not many of you are in the GTA, but if anyone knows of anyone

These two are 20 or close to it, they were dumped at animal control (a high kill shelter, they do not have an adoption centre there) when their owner died and no one in the family would care for them. I know someone who can pull them as a rescue

They are very bonded, if you know someone who would take these guys to live out their days, or even foster - they have been through so much.

They are scheduled for euthanasia on Friday morning

If you could get them to me (central NY State) I would take them, but frankly, at their age, and the stress they are going through, aren't they better off being put to sleep? So they can join their beloved mama.

It is what I want for my cats, should something happen to me. It seems heartless to even make them wait for Friday.

It does seem heartless to make them wait, but despite their age they are both in great condition, and the conditions there are awful (clean etc, but its high kill so there is only so much the staff can do). One of the rescues is really looking to get them out of there, even if they end up as fosters until their time.

Makes me glad we have arrangments for our cats, but I would want mine euthanised rather than spending time there at their age

But they won't ever ever separate them will they?

No they wont, and if she doesn't find a foster she won't push for them to be kept longer either, they have even let them have one of the maternity cages so they can be together (not usual there, I have rescued siblings who were separated even though they wanted them to be rescued together)

Poor little souls. At least they have each other.

I can't bear it when cats are separated.

To me it is heartless and cruel, and I don't know how anyone can live with themselves when doing it or allowing it to happen.

I guess I feel this way because I have seen the grieving process a cat goes through when s/he loses a companion. Imagine how much worse, when not only do they lose their home and their human, but they lose each other too.

I just can't bear the thought of it.

The particular rescue who would pull them is big on not separating cats, they even prefer kittens to go in pairs

The pair I rescued broke my heart, they were right beside each other and had their paws tangled like they were holding hands, they were of course adopted together from us. But they were 3 y/o declaws and animal control was hoping a rescue would pull them, even if they just took one (usually you can talk them into the second with oh she has a brother, but the rescues walk past cages with pairs)

I also rescued a mom and 2 adult daughters, all beautiful long haired brown tabbies there who were all in one cage (I thought it was just the two cats since one of the daughters was completely under the other two shaking) so they do try to keep them together for the comfort of the cats but weigh their adoption chances too

Aww. my heart breaks for these precious cats. They are still beautiful. I wish I was there and could help. I pray someone will save them. They could still have some good quality life together with someone who cares.

Please update us on this story. I'm crossing my fingers for these beautiful siblings. I wish I could help.

I'm so glad I've made arrangements in my will for my animals. My partner and I bought a house last year, and being that we are not married, and in the eyes of the law, are "nothing" to each other, we made wills, even though he's only 31 and I'm 29. That way we know the house and everything in it, as well as finances, goes to each other. No questions asked. But this post has me thinking I should amend it to state that a certain amount of my savings/401K goes towards the care of the animals (I've also got some reptiles).

I will

and as far as stating that a certain amount goes to your pets, it is a great idea but you still get animals given to animal control in those circumstances, you just have to give the money too. We have an agreement in writing with family of where our pets would go (as well as theirs should something happen)

Farleyv lives in Lockport, NY - so it says in her information. That's a suburb of Buffalo. Maybe PM her????

That is JUST so SAD! If I lived closer I would take them in in a heartbeat!! I have to make an appt with my attorney and change my will on a number of things, including provisions for my companion animals should I pass away or become incapacitated.
