hi all, my Genna had an ultrasound today cause she was straining to pee and there was blood in it. the vet says she has no stones just sludge and a thickening of the bladder wall. my question is there a good dry cat food to feed her? i want to be informed when i pic her up from the vet. she is currently eating instinct rabbit which is a grain free dry cat food. is that ok? she hates wet cat food so that is not an option. i know my vet will push science diet which i am not fond of so if i had other options to discuss with her that woud be great. oh sorry i wasnt sure whether to post this under health or nutrition. thanks for any opinons!!!

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

Sure Hills doesn't have the nicest list of ingredients but it is formulated for UT issues and does work. If your vet suggests your cat goes on it, or another urinary health prescription food you need to listen and follow their advice as this could mean life or death for your cat.
I also suggest you look into getting a prescription urinary health wet food as the added moisture is even better for the UT than dry is.
After a few weeks on this food your vet may suggest you bring her back in to retest to see if it's working.

The vet may suggest Hills CD (which comes in wet and dry formulas), or another line.
To a layperson, Hills may not seem like the neatest ingredients, but, for many many cats, it works and is literally a life saver. There are other lines that also carry urinary formulas. IMO, this is the time you need to work with your vet very closely, and prescription food has been developed for a purpose. It saves lives.
My boy had struvite crystals - he's on the Hills CD (mostly dry because he just doesn't like wet food and never has - I got him as an adult), and so far, so good - nice clean urine and no crystals. And good poo, and nice fur.
The vet will probably want you to come back in a month or so for another urine sample - I strongly suggest you go, since that's what will let you know if it's working.
Also, you might want to look into a cat fountain if your kitty isn't a big water drinker - my two really picked up their drinking when I got a Drinkwell.

1) the kittens will steal his food 2) he'll try to go eat the other cats food that he shouldn't have if he gets pushed away from his....the only downside is that he's one of those cats that really loves to shred toilet paper.

He's on C/D and so far it's working.
