Help me get rid of this headache! I have a chronic medical condition called Idiopathic Begign Intercranial Hypertension. It isn't as bad as it sounds, but it causes chronic daily headache. Normally it is just a dull pain, but I have had a horrid headache since Saturday and I can't get rid of it. My doctor perscribed some percecets (sp) but they are so strong and i don't want to get addicted. I have tried everything from drugs to meditation and hypnotherapy. Today I feel like I just want to rip my head off!

Sorry for venting!

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry about your headaches. I have daily headaches too but mine are more sinus related. I also get occassional migraines which make me violently ill. No fun. Sorry I don't have any homeopathic remedies to tell you about. I rely strictly on drugs!

Oh Ady, how horrible!

Pain, pain go away
Come again some other day...
If you don't, we will cry
Cuz Ady will have to go bye bye!

Did that help???

Have you tried acupuncture? Just a random thought. I haven't done it, but I've heard wonderful things about it.

ady, I'm so sorry. I have migraines, but at least I have medicine that works and I get them only once or twice a month. I hope you find some relief.

I constantly hear about the herbal Feverfew that is highly acclaimed for curing migraines. This is weird, but I also heard that at the onset of a headache to drink Gatorade and it will go away, guess these are easy enough to try.

Feverfew? I've never heard of it... I'm going to have to look into it though. I'm a chronic migraine sufferer. Thanks for the tip.

As far as aromatherapy, Lavendar is supposed to help.

Get a good scalp/neck massage, even if the headache is still there, you'll still feel better

Thanks!

I am not a big fan of needs so that acupuncture is out. As my headaches aren't really "migraines" most common remedies don't help. I have tried various herbals (teas and pills) and they occasionally help. I go for massages and chiropractics, but as the problem is internal, it doesn't always help. My problem in layman's terms is increased brain fluid pressure pressing against my optic nerves. I am going to my optomitrist next week for another test to see if the problem is getting worse. There really isn't anything they can do for it. The said if it gets really bad I could possible go blind one day. When it is a really bad day I lose vision for a while.

Thanks for all of the support everyone - it helps. My headache is better today, but still there!

Ady,

I'm glad your feeling better today. I suffer from migrains, so I know what it's like to feel like your brain is trying to get out of your head. I don't like to take medication for it (because I'm on all kinds of medication already for rhumatoid athritis) so this is what I do. It may be simplistic and I don't know if it would help for you, but you can give it a shot.

I lay in a cool, darkened room with a cold compress on my forehead with soft music (classical) playing. I can usually fall asleep. When I wake up I feel like been in a train wreck, but the headache pain has lessened.

I hope the Optomitrist will be able to help you.
