Hello all,
I have had cats in and out of my life since I was little. They were always just outdoor cats, any way I have an indoor cat of my own now and she will have her litter any time. I wanted to know if I should change her type of food so that it will be more nutritious for her and the kittens while she's nursing. Right now she's just eating adult cat food, but I didn't want to make her sick or risk losing the kittens by changing her feed.
Thanks in advance,
Jayne

Slowly start to add premium kitten food to her diet until she is on all kitten food. Don't worry she won't be sick if you do it slowely. What it will do is provide with the extra nutrition she needs.

During the last week of pregnancy and the first 3-4 weeks of lactating, she may eat 1 1/2-2 times the amount she ate before pregnancy. As long as she is gaining a healthy amount and not becoming obese, she should receive as much food as she would like.

At least two weeks before she is due to have the kittens, a nesting box should be set up so she can become accustomed to it. A laundry basket with clean towels often works very well. If you wait too long, she may have the kittens in the closet, on your bed, or in the basement. Do not allow her outside as her due date arrives, or she may have the kittens outside.

Good luck i hope this helps.
