I took a loaf of whole wheat raisin bread out of the freezer and set it on the dining room table with the intention of taking to my Mom's house. No sooner did I turn my back when I hear plastic rustling. It was Tex, my little tuxi boy - pawing and biting at the bread bag and trying to drag it off the table like a "kill".

Before I could stop him, he did manage to drag it off the side of the table onto the floor! Where exactly he thought he was going with a two pound loaf of bread is beyond me, but it's obvious he thought it SMELLED good!!!

I have a bread lover as well. Mine will drag bread, tortillas, or just about any bread product off the counter. However, I have 2 dogs who live for those moments and Ziggy loses his "kill." The bread gets taken into the backyard and eaten as we've never been there to rescue it.

At least you got to see Tex in action!

My Jennie girl is the Bread Monger in this house. No bread is safe. I learned this the hard way. Left a loaf of whole wheat out on the table.

Came home to bread spread from one end of the apartment to the other. Crumbs of bread, crusts of bread and big soggy lumps of regurgitated bread.

She must have had a blast. I did the only thing I could manage, which was to sit down on the floor and laugh until I cried. I laughed so hard my stomach muscles were sore the next day.

But I never leave bread out, any more.

PS, I did catch her in the act stealing a saltine cracker. It was one of my first attempts a video and is very dark but you can watch it here if you want

When I was a kid we had a huge neutered male cat (Junior) who loved to get a hold of the bread. He wouldn't just tear into it, he's completely shred the bread all over the kitchen. We had to keep it in one of the two upper cabinet shelves to get it out of his reach as he's climb into the bottom one.

Around here, Sherman and Tanna will tear at the bread bag. I don't know if they really want the bread or if they just want to cause me trouble. I keep all bread on the second cabinet shelf - cause Tomas taught the kittens to open the doors and climb into the bottom shelf.

Cute!

The closest my girls get to bread is wanting to lick and or bite on the outside edge of a piece of pizza. Neither like toast or plain bread.

My sister-in-law has a cat whom is diabetic and she has him on a lower carb diet! Poor Fred! She told me that a few times she was making toast and as soon as the toast popped up, Fred was on the counter snatching the toast from the toaster and running off with it!
Now she stands guard at the toaster while the bread is toasting, otherwise Fred will take off with it!

All these stories are great, and my thanks to AddieBee for starting the thread, but this one has me laughing out loud!

OMG!!!!! That story about the ravaged bread made ME laugh til I cried!!!

Tex is one of my garbage guts. He will truly eat anything as long as it remotely smells like food! He's a lil guy too.. maybe 9 pounds with a short muzzle and big, googly eyes.... You'd like him! He's a trip! When I am standing at the counter preparing wet food, he will sit on my feet to make sure he's either 1)keeping tabs on me and the food or 2) so that I know he's there and will be sure to give him FOOOOOOODDDD!!!!!

Oh, and I call my big boy "Starchy" Archie because HE likes baked goods!! No donut, cookie or danish is safe!

I guess I should feel lucky. My bread-napper adds a whole new meaning to it - Da Lip will pull down a loaf and SLEEP on it. The first thing I have to put way up when I get groceries is the bread or it will be flat.

I keep asking for a cat-proof bread box for Christmas, but so far nobody's come up with one. Merlin is my bread (and cracker, and waffle, and tortilla) thief. Miss Patchwillow just eats the plastic and leaves the bread alone.

I had a Siamese cat named Yuki, She would eat bread from a sandwich but she would also eat the whole sandwich too. I couldn't even eat one without her getting in my face, she would even rub on my hand and try to sneak a bite. lol

She also really liked pizza. I couldn't leave pizza out because she can actually get into the box and take a slice out.

My cat Chester had once worked together with my little dog to push the new loaf of whole wheat bread off the counter so they could share it. Mostly my little dog ate it, she looked like a loaf of bread herself when I got home! They are such stinkers!

That boy sure misses his carbs! She keeps him on a pretty strict diet. When she told me about him and the toast, it was the funniest thing I ever heard. I could just picture him sitting nearby waiting to ambush the toaster and her running after him yelling for him to bring back that toast!
