Tis a gorgeous day today, and I imagine a lot of people are playing hooky from work/school/whatever today

So my question is just that:

When your weather changes, and you get a beautiful day.......have you ever played hooky ( missed work/school/other engagments) to enjoy the
and just have a wonderful day?

Do you feel guilty about doing so?

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Like today, it is going to be downright gorgeous here today.......so my kids are staying home with me today, and providing I wake up enough (lack of sleep ) we're going to go out and ENJOY this wonderful day.

My kids didn't ask for it, I offered
And nope, I don't feel guilty about taking them out of school either.

I have done so and I don't feel guilty about it in the slightest. Sometimes you need a mental health day.

When my son was younger, he and I would take two days off work and school in December and we would spend the days making Christmas cookies. We always had tons of fun and, now that he's an adult with a family of his own, he still talks about those cookie-making days. In fact, for the last couple of years, he's called me and we've gotten together again to make cookies at Christmas. Once his little ones are older, he'll bring them, too, to get in on the action.

There are times when the weather is simply too lovely to work and both DH and I may take a day to do things around the house outside or just to spend some time together. I have to be very careful, though. We don't make it a habit.

Oh yes I do that quite often, and I do feel bad afterwards but I don't feel guilty for doing it I just worry about the consequences...even though I've never gotten in trouble or suffered any consequences for it before.

No I don't think I have. I don't really go out much when the weather is nice because I get sun burns way too easily.

Yes when I was working I played hooky when the weather was beautiful. Never in the heat of summer tho since I rather be in a/c when it gets too hot. The Spring tho is a nice time of year. Now I don't have to be anywhere so I can enjoy every beautiful day, life is sooooooooooo good

We have had a beautiful Spring day in my part of the world. Luckily I've booked a few days off work so have been able to enjoy it without feeling guilty!
Where I work if you have three or more absences in a 12 month period you end up in a 'formal meeting' with a manager & a representative from HR so no playing hooky for me!

I've only stayed home sick from work before - and that was sick in the ER/hospital. When I was in elementary-HS I would stay home to avoid certain events that cost money cause often we didn't have it and I didn't want to get yelled at by mentioning it to my dad.
Otherwise I missed a lot of days after I turned 11 because of migraines, GI issues, and bad viruses. I think there were even a few times I stayed home because I couldn't walk (back). So no, I've never skipped to enjoy the weather.

There's no place like home
I've played hooky before with no guilt at all - for all the unpaid hours I would put in each year, I figured they owed me a day once in a while.

DH played hooky a couple weeks ago on our first nice weather day. We had a blast together.

I have before in the past.... these days I'm not in a financial situation where I can play hooky at all. I get up a few hours before work usually so I try to enjoy the day before I go in.

You would ask that today of all days! Yesterday I put in to get the day off and it was granted. So, I am being lazy today! I just needed a break.

When I do call in sick or whatever, I do feel guilty about it because I feel I am letting my boss and co-workers down by not being there.

Me too, I feel bad that someone else has to pick up the slack. Luckily I'm rarely sick, and I wouldn't even think about taking a day off just because it's nice weather - I'd never be at work if that were the case

The only person who does my job is me, so its me who picks up the slack, either working from home in the evening if I take the day off or catching up by working twice as hard another day so no guilt, but I do occasionally think why did I do this when I am working twice as hard.
