At the time I figured we were keeping Mojito, we were supposed to be getting all the floors done and eventually Mojito would get to hang out at least part time inside the house instead of staying in the garage. But still to this day, he's been forced to spend time inside the garage (he breaks all house rules including jumping on counters every few seconds and mom has no tolerance for him even though I try to work things out) except for when he gets to share nap time with me in my room. Also, Mom's allergies have taken a turn for the worse and now I have to sleep with two cats in my room. Since Top Cat really hates Mojito still, I can't have all three in my room.

I still would like to keep all three and it seemed that it was going to work out that way, but Mom doesn't want all three here, even though she was going to let me have two cats and the bengal (before Mojito came into the picture). Even though I never got the bengal (I felt like I had little choice to keep Mojito safe), she still doesn't like have a third "mangy cat" (her words) here. I pay for all their food and vet bills and still we have many discussions over them. We were hoping that my brother who moved out (and has since moved back in) was going to eventually take Top Cat since he likes him the most. I would still help with food and vet bills. Then at everyone would be safe.

Then, this past weekend at the cat show, one of my benching neighbors was admiring Mojito. She was in love with him it seemed. Then as we were packing up and talking about how much she liked him, I was joking around and said 'You want him?'. (Keep in mind I was just joking. Even though he didn't behave, I wasn't just about to give him away to anyone who'd take him.) But we talked some more about Mojito's present situation and how I found him and she said she'd take him if things didn't work out. Mom ended up speaking with her (she came to the show) and she wants to let her take Mojito.

Problem is, this is such a big decision for me. This is the cat I was hoping to take to the annual. Of course, he has issues that may not make him a good show cat anymore, but that isn't reason enough to just let go of him. I put so much into him so that he can have a good future. However, with Mom's allergies taking a big turn for the worse in the past few weeks, weather getting hotter (only option with my brother being back here and his room no longer available for the cat room, is for the cat to stay in the bathroom during hot temps), and the pressure Mom is putting on me to find somewhere for one of the boys, I am thinking of taking the fellow exhibitor up on her offer. He would like in a spacious home with a half acre yard that has a 8 ft cat fence. The lady even has a name picked out for him.

I told mom on our way home to give me time to think, but she's already told people that we've found a home for Mojito (I told her to stop since I hadn't made up my mind yet). It's hard for me, since it's like place on my kids (at least he was a foster child to me) with someone. I want to do the right thing. I am going to ask the lady some questions to make sure he will be in a better place (right now he still hangs in the garage, even though I try to spend time with him). What do I do?

Edit: I would like to emphasize that I'd love to keep them all and was planning to until lately as mom has been asking about finding a home for one of the boys. Trust me, I don't think I could find a home that I'd trust around here for any of them. I'd worry about them for the rest of their lives.

Another reason I am thinking of letting Mojito go to this home is because by staying in the garage, he is at risk of escaping (he darts out rather frequently because my family members like to open the door real wide
) and there's outside dogs (no fence) on both sides of us.

Also, at the hotel this weekend I was upset because while I was tending to other things (I believe it was when I was doing an online test for school) Mom left a tiny cube of dark chocolate unattended and he ate it (this cat will eat anything). I had to probe her on how much he ate (it was a little cube filled with caramel - fortunately, it was the equivalent of only about a pez candy piece worth and I didn't have to take him to the ER. Also, a couple of months ago or so, he knocked over a can of antifreeze that didn't have a lid and thankfully there was so little that nothing came out. I was very angry at this and gave her a big lecture on how she could have killed him (I threw the thing away immediately).

To make things worse, Top Cat has a plastic bag eating issue and I have to lecture the family on pushing the bags out of reach of him. I've already told the vet about this and will have to consult them again probably since I can't risk him getting into another dangerous situation (he already cut his arm in August on something which I still have not figured out). If I lived on my own, I'd be better able to cat proof the house and not have dangerous stuff lying around, but for now I have to pester my family about it. Besides, when it comes to vet bills, I have to pay everything. Last year alone, I must have spent at least $2000 on vet expenses between all the cats.
