Hi all, well late last night my neighbours knocked on my door and said do you know who's cat this is?? They handed me a young black and white unfixed male, he only looks about 5 months old, they said he has been in their garden for about a week and they have seen him rummaging around the bin bags. They brought him to me as they know I have cats :-) He is very thin and was so hungry he kept burping andd his stomach making noises after he had eaten. My hubby went mad because I took him in but I couldn't leave him out another night and he was starving, our house at the front is on a busy road and I would never have forgiven myself if something happened to him. He ran straight in and straight to the food bowl
Well its morning and I am going to ring my local shelter to see if they have had any reports about him being missing, I will also ask the vets and put some posters up, its possible he is someones kitten and they are badly missing him or they could have just gotten fed up of him as he's quite a big boy and some people as we know love iccle bitty kittens. My hubby wants me to give him to the shelter but our shelters euthanise if they are full and there are so many unwanted cats I don't really want another cat, I already have 5 and they have been a bit grumpy about the visitor to say the least but if his owner cannot be found and the shelter are full then I would keep him, its just convincing hubby. He slept inbetween me and hubby in bed last night, I think he was just so grateful for someone to open their door to him. I will keep you updated. x

I am glad he slept in a people bed with someone who loves him. Keep up the good work Ruthy. You may now be the proud owner of six cats.

I would have done the same, but do keep him separate from you other cats until he's been vetted. He may be carrying something he could pass to the resident cats.

Keep us updated!

When you have five, what's one more??

Six is a nice number of cats in the house. Honest. Tell your hubby that.

Seriously, he sounds like a little sweetheart. I hope he's healthy and that he'll soon become a member of your clan. for the little guy.

What else could you have done? It was an animal in need. He could have starved to death.

If you cannot keep him its okay. You can foster him till you can find him a home. Put ads in newspapers or put up flyers on a wall at a local market or anywhere else you can (coffee shop etc.)

I agree with keeping him seperate till he is found out to be healthy. Never know what he might have. Your resident kitties need to be top priority.

Thats awesome you were able to save this poor kitten! I am sure he is very grateful!

Well, I phoned the cats protection league and to be honest they are not interested, they said I can take him over there if I don't want him, its a long way away and I don't like to think of him in a cage :-( I have also phoned my local vets and they said that they haven't had any reports of lost cats matching that description. They told me to put flyers up, so I will do that just incase someone is missing their kitty, he may have slipped out. I told the cats protection that I already have 5 cats and I can't afford to have another cat fixed or vet checked really, they said there is help available from them, so that is a good thing. He does need a health check, I have noticed today his belly is quite fat-almost pregnant looking (he is definetely a boy) it may be due to the fact that he has eaten like a pig
I bet he was starving poor mite. Here are a couple of pics of him, I would love to know how old he is, really not that old I don't think, he is going to be a big boy though I think.

I haven't really said much to John (hubby) just hoping he kind of slots into place
Thre kids have called him Felix. Yeah the cats potection will give me a vouchr so I only have to pay £10 for the nuetur, which is great but the RSPCA helped my friend, they picked up her cat, took him to the vets and returned him the next day, all for £20, I may opt for that if we do keep him, then hubby won't have to do any running around
I will also ring Cats protection tomorrow and see if they will help with health check costs, I am doing them a favour in a sense aswell. I
him. xx

Good for you! He's obviously grateful for your warm heart. Hopefully he has a wonderful, responsible family that's missing him though. And if not, best of luck convincing hubby!!

He is so neat looking! What a cutie! Thats so great that people will help with your costs. I am concerned about his belly. If it doesn't go down after eating it could be worms or something else. Definately check him out asap at the vets.

Thanks for sharing pics! Hes awesome!

Hi, I meant to update you all, my hubby opened the door on thursday, he slipped out and I haven't seen him since :-( I am totally gutted (and so are the kids) the only thing I keep telling myself is that he has found his way back home if he was a bit lost. Its just so odd that he's disappeared and I have looked around the area. I really miss him. x
